Volvo cars are now available on subscription basis in Delhi and Gurgaon. The 'Subscribe to Safety' programme, in partnership with Orix, offers both new and pre-owned Volvo cars.



Customers can choose from a list of new cars that includes the XC40, XC60, XC90 and the S60. From the pre-owned fleet, customers get the option of the XC40, XC60 and XC90. The S90 sedan will not be available under this programme.

Volvo is offering subscription plans starting from 12 months. The monthly fees include registration and road tax, maintenance, insurance and 24x7 roadside assistance services. Customers are not required to pay a down payment either.

Depending on the response, Volvo plans to introduce the subscription programme across India at a later stage.

Thanks Tushar for the news. It seems to be a step in the right direction though the actual result would depend on the actual plans, their rates. Someone has to come out and take the lead in helping us relish such good cars which are very pricey to own and pricier to maintain.

Details of the Subscription plan from Volvo & Orix


The subscription plan is available across the entire Volvo model range.

It is currently available only in the Delhi-NCR region and will be introduced in other cities at a later stage.

All vehicle maintenance will be handled by Volvo & Orix.

The subscription plan is available for a minimum of 12 months and a max of 48 months. Currently, there is no option to extend subscriptions beyond this period.

Customers will have to pay an initial down payment and then a monthly payment for the duration of the subscription plan. The exact amount depends on the model selected.

There is also a 15,000 km cap on the distance allowed to be covered in a year with the cars.

So how does this work. You buy the car yourself, and everything else is handled through this subscription?

Or is the car itself also part of the subscription, in which case it is essentially a lease program.
