Re: BMW 5 Series facelift launched at Rs. 62.90 lakh

I checked out the 530i today. As of this month,
None of the 520d/530i models have the following :
- Display key
- Surround view camera
- Laser headlights
Also vehicle is available only in Black, White and Blue colours. The LCI introduction Grey colour is not available.

With so many deleted features, there is not much to differentiate between the 3 and 5 series, other than segment based quality improvements.

Re: BMW 5 Series facelift launched at Rs. 62.90 lakh

Visited the local dealership today, was informed that the 530i is no longer in production. The car is now exclusively available in the 520d M Sport version. Don't understand the logic behind this move considering that the same engine is still being offered on the 6 series.

The 530i has been dropped from BMW India’s website. Only the 520d is listed.

The 530i and 630i were discontinued at the same time the 530d and 630d were discontinued, just that BMW India didn’t feel the need to officially take it off their site.

Re: BMW 5 Series facelift launched at Rs. 62.90 lakh

The BMW India site still shows both the 620d and he 630i MSport as being available.

https://www.bmw.in/en/all-models/6-s...ighlights.html

On the hand, when it comes to the 5-series, only the 520d is listed.

This is very weird. These sorts of strange choices on variants to offer and variants to discontinue, is what is causing a slide in BMW's fortunes in India in the mist recent quarter. BMW sales fell 15% in Q1 while the luxury car industry including Mercedes and Adi recorded a 15% growth in Q1. If I can't buy the mainstream executive luxury sedan I want with the fuel and power output levels I want. I will look elsewhere. The 520D is the most boring variant of the 5 series, and I am not surprised buyers are gravitating towards other brands which offer more space and/or spicier powertrains.
