Re: BMW 5 Series facelift launched at Rs. 62.90 lakh

Any specific reason as to why the 530i still does not get the 330i's 258 BHP and 400 NM spec? I thought BMW would change this when the LCI comes in but it is still the same. IIRC, the pre LCI 530i M sport was going for 61.5 ex showroom (without discounts) and this comes in at 62.9, not too much of a hike considering adding kit like laser light and the fact this is a refreshed model.

Love the LCI M sport's front styling compared to the earlier generation car, looks nice coupled with the laser lights.

Brochure says 252 HP

However torque is now limited to 350Nm instead of 400Nm in the 330i.

Re: BMW 5 Series facelift launched at Rs. 62.90 lakh

I'm surprised that the LCI model doesn't come with the updated B48 engine as seen in the G20 330i. The added weight of the 5 series compared to the 3 certainly demands that extra 50nm of torque. I hope that we get to see the M540i in India, it would be the perfect alternative to the diesel 530d.

The 530d should've had Sports seats as well, atleast as an option. It is after all the most powerful & the most expensive trim.

Re: BMW 5 Series facelift launched at Rs. 62.90 lakh

This car looks so beautiful. The straight on front view is so lovely. BMW has perfected the design on this 5 LCI. While BMW is getting a lot of criticism on their latest designs, on this though, they have got it spot on. The front view of the car is modern yet classy. I am a huge fan of the earlier circular DRLs on BMWs. But this latest iteration of DRLs is just fantastic. Perfect blend of modern design with classy lines.

The price increase "on paper" is not much (i.e. if we do not consider the discounts on earlier models). I think this a great car at this price.

For cars with so much of technology and sophistication, BMWs are also very reliable. If someone is looking for a sedan in just under Rs 1Cr price range, I think the 530d M Sports LCI makes a strong case. A lovely car in many ways!

I agree with you. This is surprising. Sports Seats are one of the best features in a BMW, and it is a bit weird than the 530d M Sport does not get that.

However, having said that, the seats in the 530d looks quite fancy too. Already the seats in G30 530d (even before LCI) were fantastic and extremely comfortable yet sporty. On the 3 series the lack of Sports Seats would be a big problem as otherwise the non-sport seats on the 3 are not that great. But in a 5-series, I think the owners will not miss the Sports Seats much.

Re: BMW 5 Series facelift launched at Rs. 62.90 lakh

Beautiful looking car! Not a line out of place and perfectly proportioned.
Seems to be decently priced as well considering the kit on offer. By dropping the 530i Sport, they've created a sizeable 10L gap between the 3 series LWB and the 5.

There's no such thing as M540i. 540i is just another variant with a 6 cyl Engine. The M Performance versions for the 5 Series are M550i or M550d.

Re: BMW 5 Series facelift launched at Rs. 62.90 lakh

Always had a soft spot for the 5. IMHO it has beautiful proportions with a nice lean and mean look. The design is definitely an evolution over the last gen and that isn't necessarily a bad thing in my opinion. Always loved the looks of the previous 5. I still don't understand why the interiors are not updated to the new BMW design as seen in the 3 Series , X5, X7 , Z4 etc. This design is kind of getting a bit too long in the tooth and the iDrive+ driving display update just isn't enough. Would still be my choice in this segment.

Looks good. Got a bit of a surprise as price seemed to have gone up for the petrol model. But now realise that is for the M sport. Any idea when the regular 530i Sport will be launched?

The 5 is indeed a very beautiful car. Even though these are just cosmetic updates for most part, it has always been a handsome car to begin with. I’d pick ONLY this car in the segment if I had the budget. Looks sporty and classy at the same time.

Re: BMW 5 Series facelift launched at Rs. 62.90 lakh

For us, 5 series = 530d. So,

Where's the updated 286hp/ 650nm engine of the LCI?

Why's the HK sound system degraded from 600w to 464w?

No Tanzanite Blue (even previous Mediterranean Blue removed).

For the additional 2.8 lakh (ex-sh) what you get is:

1) Laser beam lights - when LEDs are just not White enough.
2) Reversing assistant - you know so that you can zag your way out the same way you zigged your way in...
3) Aluminium carpentry option to go along with your Leather Comfort seats - to sport-ify your ambience.
3) Same Ivory/ Mocha interior option.
4) Same 662 style wheels.
5) Black and White exterior options.

Disappointing ++

Re: BMW 5 Series facelift launched at Rs. 62.90 lakh

My family has really been considering getting a 530d but seeing this not have any major updates we are going to go for the pre-owned route. Its disappointing how the music system has been degraded to less watts and it has the same engine under the hood. No tweaks no nothing. Though I gotta say the new Laser lights do tempt me a lot but paying almost 3.5 lakhs over the sticker over the previous for a mere bigger infotainment and lazer lights doesn’t make sense to me. Also I have seen a lot of colors have been discontinued on the 530d?

Looks great IMO. For those who can't afford the M5, BMW should definitely consider the 540i at a future date similar to it's 3 series sibling. Enthusiasts will have a reason to rejoice .
