DV5 is the internal codename for the 1.5 tdci while the IB5 is fords 5 speed gearbox. Freestyle probably has a revised version of the IB5

I don't see the reason behind this facelift. The current design looks good; they could have added the features and kept the same design.

Dealers would get the Cars by September End and the cars would be Available for Display as well as Demo. Expect the retail to start in the month of October. Production is going to be the limited cause of the Chip Shortage.

Dispatches to the dealers will begin in last week of next month. Someone was shopping for a Petrol Auto, but the local dealer won't have anything. Though not a right question for this thread, what others should he consider? No Kia or Nissan. Or should we just wait for this? Apparently, no price increase is planned currently.

Ford is flogging a dead horse. It may get some few thousand bookings over the course of another year while Ford runs to other OEMs hoping to utilize their vacant production capacity in Chennai and Ahmedabad. But brand Ford is on its death bed in India for sure. GM part 2.

Re: Pics: 2021 Ford EcoSport Facelift caught testing

Slightly OT. Ford recently held a meeting with dealers in Dallas discussing future US vehicles, that included the future of the Indian made Ecosport.
According to Automotive News, the Ecosport will continue to come from India and the next generation is planned for MY2024 (2023 for India?).
Quote:
EcoSport: Ford's entry-level vehicle will be upstaged this year by the Maverick compact pickup, which will have a starting price of $21,490, including shipping, making it $150 less expensive than the base EcoSport. How that will affect Ford's subcompact crossover, which hasn't caught on in the U.S. as in other parts of the world, remains to be seen. For now, Ford plans a next-generation EcoSport out of India that would debut in the U.S. in 2024.

I would say wait for a month. If AMT is not an issue the person can look at Nexon and Xuv3OO, the Punch will also come with an AMT at launch most probably. The Kiger turbo CVT is peppy but it's a budget car and it shows. If Hyundai is acceptable then Venue turbo DCT is an option. Over and above all these the MS Brezza / Toyota Urban Cruiser has a proper automatic, is cheaper than others if you can live with those interiors.

Ford should provide 16 valve head and DOHC setup in the TDCI engine along with a 6 speed gearbox. Cost will definitely go up, but customers deserve such configurations these days.

The orange one will surely be a head turner, and for the right reasons.
Maybe if Ford had launched this avatar back in 2013, everyone would have got used to it - or if this is how the car was launched whenever at all. But no! They had to make an existing elegant design obnoxious by adding unnecessary design elements that don’t make the car live up to its true nature. The previous facelift was perfect though.

You’re right about the orange shade though.

Re: Pics: 2021 Ford EcoSport Facelift caught testing

Ecosport is the product which is getting minor Tweaks since its launch. Such a facelift after almost a decade is not worth. As Ecosport is the only Bread & Butter for Ford in Indian market, Ford is afraid to make an all new Ecosport.

This revised grill reminds me of Uncle Scrooge face

Re: Pics: 2021 Ford EcoSport Facelift caught testing

Checked with Ford dealer on probable launch date for facelift Ecosport. Dealer doesn’t have any concrete date yet, Ford is tight lipped on informing dealers as well. Current waiting period for any new Ecosport is 120 days. Couldn’t believe why a product at end of the lifecycle will have a 120 days waiting period. I can understand a couple of months of waiting period for new front facia inventory update, some interior changes and chip shortage. But not able to understand why Ford will risk losing existing business by prolonging deliveries of their best seller, something is not adding up. Nevertheless, booked Diesel Ecosport Titanium with promised delivery date on Dec 15.

This waiting period strategy is a recipe for disaster given the cut-throat competition and multiple amazing new cars coming in the next few months. Ford doesn’t look that interested in India. Rethinking my decision to buy this gem.

I am really hoping Ford would offer a proper Torque Converter AT in the Diesel this time around and in the top variant. I will buy for sure. That ugly grill and even Ford's rumored exit doesn't matter!

Re: Pics: 2021 Ford EcoSport Facelift caught testing

Visited Ford showroom to check on the status of Ecosport facelift delivery. Respective Ford dealers got allocation details from Ford for new facelift along with variant and colors. New color (luxe Yellow) will be launched in facelift, dealer in my city got one allocation in first dispatch. Showrooms are getting prepared for the Ecosport facelift launch, most likely to be launched by last week of September or first week of October.
My last ray of hope to get a well build and decently kitted compact Diesel SUV at a reasonable price point, waiting for the launch.
