Re: Pics: 2021 Ford EcoSport Facelift caught testing

Now that the Kushaq is overpriced, I am back to my initial choices of Nexon and Ecosport. Considering that Nexon's engine/gearbox is still iffy, I will most probably go for the Ecosport.

Safety being a priority for me, I do not want to think about Venue/Sonet.

The only gripe I had was the top end auto didnt have child seat anchor points. So I will have to go for the S variant which is manual and has weird orange paints all over. How far out do you think this facelift is? If it is 3-4 months, it is worth the wait.

Why don't you try out XUV300?
It has substantially more torque, and better overall (5star) safety as well.

Boot Space. This will be my only car and will need something a little bigger than my current i10's boot.

The XUV300 is pricey compared to the EcoSport in the top trim level models. Also its ground clearance is lower by a significant 20 mm, so is the boot space. Also it doesn't look proportional, boot is abruptly chopped off from that of the donor, the SsangYong Tivoli. As far as I know, EcoSport is not crash tested yet. Nevertheless it should score well. Yes, you are right, the XUV300 is the safest made in India car with more powerful and torquier diesel motor than that of the EcoSport with a wider bodyshell.

The boot space of the XUV300 is indeed very small.

However, EcoSport has some issues as well like narrow cabin width, slightly less enthusiastic engine, hard ride etc.
It is priced quite competitively though.

Yes, checking all boxes is indeed very difficult. I would have ideally liked XUV 300's engine in Nexon's body with features and fitting from a Sonet. But unfortunately, it is very difficult to please all these requirements.

I was seriously considering the Kicks but that turned out to be based on the old Duster platform and it is unsafe. Kushaq/Taigun was a good option but looks like a good model is about 18L which really is pushing my budget.

So, as of now, my choices have come down to the Ecosport and Nexon and I might mostly go with the Ecosport for reliability and a little better drive-ability at lower speeds.

Also after-sales service, maintenance cost and spare parts availability should be better if one goes for the EcoSport IMHO.

Along with Ecosports I hope they have some refreshers for the Figo cars. FORD please add Sync3 systems.

Other than the few service centres in Mumbai, the other two ie. maintenance cost and spare parts availability must be experienced! Maintenance costs are very reasonable and spare parts are easily available. Ford has improved a lot from the initial Ikon days!

Ford has indeed come a long way from the initial Escort days which was available in 1.6 petrol and 1.8 diesel (as far as I remember) in reducing maintenance cost and improving spare parts availability a lot.

OT to this thread but wasn't the kicks tested and got 4 stars in GNCAP? I am also considering the kicks seriously. My only issue is that the automatic doesn't come with the side airbags that the top end manual comes.

Apparently thats not the indian one. The indian one is based on the Duster which is an old platform. This had initially got 0 stars but with airbags, scraped through with 3 stars with an unstable body tag.

As per below video from AutoTrend, facelifted ES will be launched by festive season this year. It might include new touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple Car Play along with sync 3 from Titanium variant. Also 1.5 L diesel unit could be tuned for more power and come up with Auto box.

Autocar has mentioned otherwise.

-Will get spruced up interiors and more features as well
-No mechanical changes are expected
