Mercedes-AMG E 53 & E 63S launched at Rs. 1.02 & 1.70 crore respectively

Mercedes-Benz India will announce pricing for the high-performance E 63S in India on July 15, 2021. Mercedes-Benz for the first time will introduce the E 53 sedan in India as well with a market launch slated to take place on the same day.

Both sedans will come with Mercedes' 4Matic+ all-wheel drive as standard.

Updated E 63S gets styling tweaks inside out, it features an AMG-specific radiator grille with 12 vertical slats and an enlarged Mercedes star logo.

Mercedes-AMG E 53 & E 63S launched at Rs. 1.02 & 1.70 crore respectively-20210702032734_mercedes_benz_e63_s_amg_2021_1.jpg

The new E 63S retains the pre-facelift version’s 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo powerplant which produces 612hp and 850Nm of torque in the top-spec S version that is expected to come to India. Power continues to be sent to all four wheels through a 9-speed automatic gearbox.

The new E 53 sedan will sit below the E 63S in the Indian range. The E 53 shares its powerplant with the GLE 53 Coupe which is already on sale in India.

Power comes from a 435hp, 3.0-litre, in-line, six-cylinder, twin-turbo petrol engine. The unit is paired to a 48V mild-hybrid system (Mercedes calls it EQ Boost) that adds up to 22hp and 250Nm of torque under hard acceleration. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic gearbox and Mercedes’ 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system.

I agree. But the cherry on top would be if the E53 is CKD but highly doubtful as we only have the LWB version here.

Mercedes-Benz AMG E53 spotted before launch, the blue colour really suits the E53 (surprised Mercedes-Benz doesn’t offer a blue now with the E LWB) but the alloys with the additional inner rim don’t look good!

re: Mercedes-AMG E 53 & E 63S launched at Rs. 1.02 & 1.70 crore respectively

The new M5 launched at around Rs. 1.62 crore so I guess it's fair to assume that the E63S will be somewhere in that region too. Could be even more pricey considering that it is the 'S' model which would likely go up against the M5 Comp.

So E53 comes in around Rs. 1.2-1.3 crores is my guesstimate.

No chance of the E63S being anything but a CBU.
Highly unlikely that the E53 will be locally manufactured considering our market does not have the standard wheelbase E on sale.

Man i really wish they go through with it! It would be the most affordable V8 from the Germans in our market irrespective of which route they go (CBU/CKD).

SWB and this lovely blue make this E look handsome, LWB looks like stretched desi limo converts.(No offence to fellow owners). Love the rear with the quad tips but the nonfunctional bumper vents upfront and those ugly alloys do not suit the car's intent imo.

Blue is surely offered on the LWB as well, here's a reference image of a family members 2021 Pre-facelift E LWB in blue;

IMO if these cars have to be successful then the CKD route has to be adopted for them to be more accessible & affordable.

This is Cavansite Blue and I believe this was offered in the Pre-facelift E LWB.

The new Facelifted E LWB is no longer available in Cavansite Blue.

Paintworks available now are:

The refreshed Mercedes-AMG E 63S retains the 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo, which produces 612hp and 850Nm of torque. It gets tweaked styling, AMG Dynamic select software and drive programmes that include updates to the software controlling its all-wheel-drive systems.

That looks like an extremely uncomfortable and ungainly steering wheel. Imagine living with it, let alone driving fast.

I dont think there is any other manufacturer that does steering wheels better than AMG Mercedes. And it looks perfectly stunning to me. Having said that I highly doubt these germans would choose form over function. It should be spot on ergonomically.

Since the car retails around 30-35% lower than the 63S in markets like the UK abs the US, I am thinking 1.1-1.2 Crore, or Mercedes may make use of the lower tax bracket for the <3000 cc and price aggressively close to the X3M at 99 Lakh and may be even sell 25-30 cars... of course this is wishful... but not unreasonably so. However, going by how mercedes has priced their recent launches they might go crazy and price 1.25 crore for the 53 and even 1.8 crore for the 63S!

Just imagine accidentally holding on to one of those small round gauge screen digeridoos near the third spoke while cornering fast. If it snaps off, well... There goes 2.5L and a month of driving time.

Those control the race mode, traction etc and there is small round display. This gives more freedom while driving hard than doing it from the center console. This has been the way in AMG cars for quite some time.

Is it just me or does the steering wheel look like it's slightly offset to the left?
