Good this is a 5 seater this time so that this is priced reasonable. Hopefully it may have a 2l gasonline (2.7l gasonline will be too much for india) unless otherwise Suzuki should be very intelligent to put a 140bhp 1.9mjtd.

vitara 4wd, 1.9mjtd, 5 seater, 14l OTR is a dream come true for me.

any insider news on pricing and other details?

Though I would love to see it in person before making any harsh comments. It looks too plain in my view. It looks like a Pajero or an Innova with all those clean lines. What I loved about the CRV(forget the front beak for a while) are its bold lines. The Scorpio, Safari, Endeavour all have huge muscular lines which give them that imposing road presence. The Vitara lacks that killer looks.

IMHO the only selling point would be aggressive pricing and goodies like alloys, tyres, leathers etc. It cant match the killer looks of the others in the market and it for sure cant match the killer technology in the CRV.

hi all. i'm new to teambhp, so please excuse any mistakes in posting.

As far as the new Vitara goes, am i the only one who thinks the looks are too 90eeeesish. too plain vanilla for me.

might be fun to drive and all that, maybe even loaded with loads of features and priced competively, but looks too boring.

Guys spoke to a person in Bimal and these are a few things he said about the Vitara.
Spacious interior, Airbags, keyless entry, four-wheel-drive options, front ventilated disc brakes with rear drum brakes and power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering, anti-lock brake system, climate control, steering-wheel-mounted controls and 17-inch alloy wheels.

He didn’t mention anything about the price or the engine specs.

Cheers

I am disappointed with the rear. As someone said earlier, looks like from 90's. For some reason the rear of Suzuki's car are not so appealing compared to the front (classic examples being Baleno, Swift and even SX4).

Comparing the way CRV drives, no chance.

It is a pleasing design. Not a breakthru one for sure.
But I like it.

Is this going to come with a diesel?? Oh man! That would be something. With Toyota still toying around with it's Fortuner, time for someone else to wake up.
Will wait for the official announcement.

Maruti, is considering pricing the Vitara just like the SX4. Complete VFM. I guess they are aiming at CRV territory. Whether or not it will be hit is something I would wait to see. Hope they dont do any cost cutting like in the SX4 and get the M20 out with all the jazz.

Looks are subjective, but somehow I think honda needs to rethink its design team a bit. They have started to make their cars look uglier by the day. The front end of the CRV 07 looks weird, so does the rear of the honda accord 07, not to mention the okayish looks of the NHC. OHC, Old HA, CRV were such a class ahead in terms of design and simplicity. Maybe its this simplicity in looks that might work well for the Vitara too.

Was visited by a couple of MUL guys. Asked them about the Vitara and they said the launch is very near.

I did not bother with the details and asked them the price at which they are launching it. He says similar to the X-Trail and CR-V. I was and I asked them 20L ex showroom ? And the guy asks me are these cars priced at 20L ? I was more I said yes and if MUL prices it like the new CR-V, do not even bother about the sales figures.

then he says no MUL is considering a price of about between 16-17 L ex showroom. Maybe this is true , I don't and won't know till the SUV is launched.

What say - How many would buy a new Vitara at 16-17L v/s the new CRV at 19-20L ??

I would'nt. I am smitten by the new CRV.

ps - are the prices for the new CRV and X-Trail that I mentioned above correct ??

I think Maruti would have a tough time to price it below 15-16 lakhs. And at that price, I'm afraid people would rather spend a bit more and opt for the CRV.

But lets wait for the official release to see if Maruti can pull off a hattrick with their prices.
