Hmm something interesting is that the 4wd can be controlled manually unlike the CR-V which is auto 4WD only when teh front tyres lose traction then also only 20% or 40% power goes to teh rear.

Quickly going through the specs, Vitara vs CRV, Vitara has

- less power and torque
- drum brakes in the rear

- One less cog (4 spd auto and 5 spd manual)
- 16" alloys as compared to 17" ones in CRV

On the positive front

- More (and better) colors
- Vitara has higher ground clearance (200 vs 185)
- Center lockable differential (couldn't see that in CRV's specs)

Seems like Honda are trying to do a Maruti (foraying into small cars). And now Maruti are trying to do a Honda (get underpowered engines). Though the figures don't do much talking I guess we will have to wait for the TD reports. Might be going for the launch party, will update if I get to TD the vehicle.

I am more worried about 170Nm at 3500rpm while weighing 1594Kgs, that's way too piddley. Not very useful as a crawling off-roader, it needs to generate much higher torque at much lower rpms.

@ Samurai - Right on sir. Won't be much of an out and out off roader. Soft roader? Even in urban settings it looks a tad underpowered.

Which car/SUV are you refering to? For sure, CRV doesn't have a sub-woofer as standard.

This is from GV's brochure. 4 speakers in all doors, 2 tweeters in front doors, and one sub.

Spoke to owner of one of the maruti dealerships and he mentioned that he has a V6 GV and this vehicle is fitted out quite OK, but a little underpowered. My feeling really is them must have detuned the engine to get superior FE for their sales guys to go after the CRV guys. If you really look at it, they have a petrol vs diesel battle vs Tuscon and Endy and a feature/snob factor with CRV. They are trying to get as many USPs as they can..

Pricing is good, but i wonder if Maruti has made a bit of a mistake in detuning the engine for better FE.

but guys, many of the CRV's i have seen were driver driven! So, may be Maruti can still run of with sales. However, they really needed a diesel GV.

yes they have detuned the engine...basically they have removed few things from the engine (like sensors etc) which results in loss of power...
but to give GV at such a low price once can sacrifice that
