Many dealers are involved in this scam (i know this because i have personally seen this). This can easily be done by paying a meagre Rs.2000 to the dealer and the dealer will do rest of the 'setting'.

I agree with what you say. Also, with cops cracking down on MH04 and MH43, MH06 seems to be a new avenue now!

Earlier most of those imports were registered in MP Mostly in Indore(MP-09) coz, still remember a nissan micra registered in Indore was passing by in Irla and had really a different no. style ,it wasnt a temp reg either
Its really easy to get such fake registration with high level of corruption around.just think wen abu salem can get a fake passport here in MP why not a reg.

Evo with fake registration?

Here is the Lancer Evo 7 with a registration number MH-01-HA-7XXX. Isn't MH-01-HA-XXXX meant for two wheelers? How is it possible? This car had a VIP Number. Is it that VIP numbers for cars can comprise of those reserved for two wheelers? Somebody please explain...

Check out the pic.
Sorry for the bad pic quality but the number is legible.
I have taken it myself, so there is no chance of any trick involved.

There are lots over here too , HR reg in special on LC AMazon modified to look like Lexus . There is a kit that can be procured for around 1.5 lacs in Dubai , Headlamps + bumpers + front grille + Door step lighting . IT really makes a big difference .

Just asking, how did you know about this? Do you know anybody else with a similar type of registration?

Previously in Delhi one could carry forward his old registration number to his / her new car. Especially true of VIP single digit numbers. I saw many such examples. I think the rule is now changed & one CANNOT transfer the old series numbers to new cars. But it used to be perfectly legal previously.

Even today I saw a Brand New Endevour with regn. HYG X, whereas the registration numbers in Gurgaon go as HR 26 AQ XXXX.

So I guess it is different laws in different states.

Cheers

Another notorious way of evading tax is to let the car remain on Temp regn plates (TR). I have seen a BMW 530d and M5 that have been driven on those plates for over a year now.
Whereas legally you can drive on TR plates for only 2 weeks and then renew it for another couple of times but definatly not a year !

its not fixed as of now that the nos. for commercial and private are same .. though not most of them.. we have a transport owner here in our area.. who has trucks with MH43E series.. and also his Honda city zx is in the same series.. but the trucks are in commercial type.. matlab black letters on yellow background and the car is in the private style. black on white. no idea.. how is this possible?
