Note that the Ford fusion diesel has an overall length of 3989mm and qualifies for the small car excise sop unlike the petrol which is still 4018mm.
So,technically the car should cost around 50,000 lesser than its current pricing.

Greedy Ford is putting the 50,000 bucks in its pocket!

That too without ABS. 7.5L for a basic hatch ? good luck ford. But let's wait for the car to be launched before we jump to conclusions.

The reports says "based on customer feedback". When they launched some new version of IKON they said the same thing. When they launched the fiesta the said "customer feedback" for IKON has helped them. So unique. They don't have brains themselves I think. Only after customer gives feedback they start to think and produce a car few years later that the customers wanted few years earlier!

Compared with Fusion Petrol there is no much differnce we can notice except for Fiesta engine and less length. Looking into spec. I feel Fusion Petrol is still better buy unless Fusion D give FE of over 18kmpl in City and on highway 23kmpl. At this point I really doubt If it can give this.

Regards,

Ravi.

IS THIS A SURPRISE?

I was expecting this sort of pricing. I had mentioned in my posts that the pricing wont be comparable to Swift DDiS. But then again, many were too excited about a 6L pricing. All manufacturers are commanding a premium for the diesels. (I guess its the least for Maruti with 60k)

Why this happens with all the launches?

Funny thing is that- the same is going to happen in future launches too. Getz CRDi for one. ;)

Ford should have passed on the tax benefits to its customers. Expect hefty discounts very soon. The success of the Fiesta TDCi doesnt guarantee sales of an over priced hatch with a TDCi sticker. Dissapointed.

This could also mean good discounts on the petrol, making it even more VFM. ;)

At this rate by 2010/11 the price of diesel is going to be on par with petrol and the prices of both type of cars will be more or less same then!

Yes you are right LC about Petrol and Deesel price, thats why dealers push Diesel car highlighting its positve points but in long run for a person who don't travel much Petrol makes more sense but still I saw many people buying Diesel.

In India If Diesel quality is not improved Diesel cars end up with heavy service bills.

With Skoda Fabia due for launch sometime this year , does it set a precendence for Fabia pricing ? Looks like Fabia will also cost the same with OTR of around 7 + L

oops another big blunder wrt pricing from ford. Due credits to a good platform, i dont think the car is worth more than 6.75 to 7 lakhs on the road.

I guess MUL will continue to demand the premium wait period for now.

since diesel is what moves a nation like ours - the chance that the govt will increase the price of diesel is low. There will always be a demand for diesl vehicles simply because it is subsidized. There is a false sense of "saving" but in the long run - diesel is more expensive. (IMHO)

Is Ford still importing the Diesel engine? They should have considered manufacturing the engine locally. That should have brought the prices down.

Yes, I agree. It's too expensive for a hatch (with no ABS).

The most idealistic situation for Ford can be.

1. Bring a 1.1 L petrol engine, plonk it in the fusion petrol (sub 4000mm) ans sell it for 4.25 - 5.25 Lakhs

2. Sell the 1.4 L Fusion diesel for 5.25-6.0 lakhs

3. Sell the Fiesta Petrol as it is.

4. Plonk the 1.6 L Diesel in the Fiesta and let it fight it out with the Verna.

What type of survey do these companies do? since we are the poeple how they get such market feedback... what are there marketing guys doing... due to price, petrol fusion was a failure & now diesel.

After having such good resources of Fusion, Ford hasen't been able to exploit it to full potential.
