How will they price the ikon 1.4 TDCi, if they wish to bring it? It will affect Fusion 1.4 TDCi, Fusion 1.6 P & Fiesta 1.4 P, right?

But if they somehow manage to do it, it will be the end of Logan D

I guess most of us have been waiting for the diesel version of Fusion, simply bcos the fiat diesel engine is a gem of a design.the petrol counterpart is great but with 9-10kmpl it was ignored.diesel shud be around 15+ so lets hope this thing is priced well and for sure this is "the car" for all the bad roads in india

Diesel seems to be the buzz word in the Indian compact car segment. Ford is now sharpening its weapon to take on the swift diesel and the to-be-launched Getz diesel, reports CNBC-TV18.

You mean Fusion and not Getz diesel from Ford

6L does seem to be wishful thinking. its a good move though to plonk the 1.4 TDCi into the Fusion. Am just wondering how the Fusion would have sold if they done something similar a year back.

1.4 petrol would make a lot of sense at starting say 4.99 ex-showroom!

Ahem, i guess thats the price at which the 1.3 Flair retails ex-showroom.
How can they price the 1.4 at the same price, even if in petrol?

Ford can do to the fusion, what Tata has done to the indigo. Bring out an entry level Diesel Fusion with no frills at a rate cheaper than the New Indigo Dicor LS and eat into the sales of Indigo as well as the Logan.

Wishful Thinking..

One question.

Ford has a 1.4TDCi and a 1.6TDCi. Aren't these engines completely similar in construction?

I mean just a bigger CC and not too different.

So 2 things strike me.

One is that the engine should be pretty easy to plonk into the fiesta.

Secondly the cost difference should not be much as it is mostly a similar engine just a higher cubic capacity.

So it cant be cost or difficulty in fitting the engine that must be stopping ford from getting this engine.

It has to be something else.

I think even they should be smart enough to know that Fiesta is a very good product and the 1.6 can really make things tough for competition like the Verna.

Right now it looks like the Verna CRDi is selling more than the Fiesta even though the fiesta is the cheaper car. The verna has no features and the Fiesta has more features for a lesser price. It's just the engine.

This engine can even be offered to the fusion as the top end fully loaded one as a hot diesel SUVish hatch.
