Hopefully the facelifted Baleno will get ESP and 6 airbags to compete with the Figo AT, which has both. Should then be a nice premium city hatchback that you can take on occasional highway trips as well.

I won't dare to expect all disc brakes.

It has all new sheet metal, interiors and electronics. I would say, this looks like a complete generation change, why are we referring to this as the facelifted Baleno?

Edit: Just noticed that they're using the Swift's steering wheel on the Baleno. Can we also hope for a new power window console, finally?

I can confirm you the fact that this is a all new generation. No facelift will be changing the rear screen wipers and fuel lid positioning.
Also Nexa had left a hint last year! Surely this is something big from one of their best selling cars. I personally applaud Suzuki for carrying over the previous generation Baleno lines to the new car.

It isn't a generation change but an extensive facelift because a next gen model is nowhere in Suzuki's plans as Baleno has been discontinued in many important markets of Suzuki due to low sales! Hence, I guess Maruti will run the Baleno with this update for 2-3 more years until they have developed a replacement hatchback on their own!

Looks like it has a new monocoque shell as well. You can see the corner where the tail lamp, bootlid and the rear glass meet, also the different cutout for the fuel filler flap. Don't think it can be called a facelift if it's a new monocoque.

The upcoming Baleno is not a facelift. The exterior and interior will undergo updates but the car will remain on same platform. The Baleno has found newer pastures in Africa. Only the European exports have stopped. I have seen up-close the newer model and though it looks like an evolutionary update, but the skin panels are all new and there is some new tech that resides inside. Will it take on the new i20, may be, maybe not..

From the Spy images, the overall front design looks very similar to the current generation Baleno, except for a change in Grille pattern and DRL's.
