If they are changing the chassis then it is a new gen, upgrading the chassis means that they have to update other parts too. A heavy rework would mean they only updated the cosmetic parts of the car.

Even Toyota are doing the same with the GT86 and GR86 update, and the upcoming Nissan Z will be based on the old 370Z which is a decades old platform.

re: 2022 Maruti-Suzuki Baleno, now launched at Rs. 6.35 lakh

When was the last time MSIL reworked this extensively on an existing car? Ertiga maybe? Looks superb!

Is it just me or are they saying Tech Goes Bold far too many number of times?

Also the BGV seems to be lifted from some of the work of Hans Zimmer!

re: 2022 Maruti-Suzuki Baleno, now launched at Rs. 6.35 lakh

Just a 20K increase over the old model for the base trim for all the updates, tech and the so called "added safety". And Dualjet engine is standard across all trims - means prices are actually reduced to the tune of 40K compared to old model (Dualjets were priced 60K higher earlier - for which we should get a simple Turbo or DI)! Good pricing, IMO. Or, can I say the robbery is stopped?

The same question should be asked in the Hyundai / Kia threads as well. More than the people moving from the Maruti Baleno, it will be the Hyundai i20, Venue, Kia Sonet buyers who will be moving to Carens - because they are more convinced of the brand.

Also, is 2.6 lakh a small amount for a buyer in this segment?

so the pricing of New Age Baleno is out

₹6,35,000 to ₹9,49,000 is good pricing.
HUD and 360 degree camera are attractive features. But I don't like that fake tail lamp on the hatch door.
I do not understand why they would remove CVT and put AMT...that too In a "premium" Nexa offering!!

For people who are buying a Manual, 9L ex-showroom for the top end version is wonderful pricing.
Expecting this to get good safety rating

And the subscription prices are as below
2022 Maruti-Suzuki Baleno, now launched at Rs. 6.35 lakh-subscription-prices.png

My cousin wanted an Automatic hatchback within 12 lakhs. He was confused between Baleno and Polo.
With this AMT, he will probably go towards Polo.

re: 2022 Maruti-Suzuki Baleno, now launched at Rs. 6.35 lakh

That is killer pricing from Maruti. IIRC it significantly undercuts the earlier dual jet versions even in the manual trim. They've also transferred the monetary benefits of switching to AMT from CVT back to the customer.

I'll miss the CVT. I just hope the AMT is tuned a lot better than the ones in Ignis/Swift and GNCAP does a test on this version to completely quell the questionable safety quotient.

re: 2022 Maruti-Suzuki Baleno, now launched at Rs. 6.35 lakh

To me the new Baleno looks much better than the older model now, finally Maruti has decided to give rear AC vents. Shift from TC to AGS is something which i didn't like, not a fan of AMT. The dashboard finally looks way better than the older one. Six airbags, finally Maruti is considering safety on priority. Ace the crash test and we have a winner in hands.

re: 2022 Maruti-Suzuki Baleno, now launched at Rs. 6.35 lakh

Great pricing, especially with all the additions that have been made. I really hope the structure also has been improved. So glad Maruti has started offering safety kit like ESP (on MT too) and 6 airbags.

Unless one really needs the 7 seats they would be better off with a top spec Baleno over the barebones Carens at 8.99Lakh. The person upgrading from an Alto would want features too, which the Baleno offers.

re: 2022 Maruti-Suzuki Baleno, now launched at Rs. 6.35 lakh

I think we should stop raving out CVT being replaced by AMT in the new Baleno. Maruti's CVT has been bashed by many in the forum for having a bad Rubber Band Effect, and the new gen AMT that debuted in the 2nd Gen Celerio has gotten good reviews compared to the ones in the older cars.
We should perhaps wait for Drive reviews to be out first before passing statements on the gearbox.

The New Baleno's Zeta variant seems on par with the old Baleno's Alpha variant. It also gets six airbags, LED headlamps, and rear ac vents for 8.09 lakhs ex-showroom.

My sister have a Baleno CVT and I have an Ignis AMT. There is no comparison between the transmissions. The CVT wins hands down. The rubber band effect pokes its ugly head only when you floor the pedal. In the same scenario the AMT is much worse with it's head nod and gear hunting. My BIL whom I wouldn't call an enthusiast was of the same opinion when he took Ignis for a short spin after getting used to the Baleno. Mind you, he used the Ignis for almost two years when I was out of the country.

I do hope they've made significant upgrades to the AMT as this Baleno is very nearly a perfect package.

Price is significantly lower when you consider the fact that the dual jet engine is now standard equipment. Delta dual jet was selling for 7.9 lakhs and Zeta dual jet was 8.59 lakhs in manual guise (ex showroom Kerala).
