Good and comprehensive, that AMT decision doesn't make sense though, very confusing.

Hope this one gets GNCAP rated and scores well, like and better than the existing one already does in EUNCAP..

I think the additional weight of the thick sheet metal (if it is true) will be compensated by the reduction in weight in the underlying platform with different grades of steel. Reason? After all, even if cars from Hyundai also has poor crash ratings, people think Hyundais are well-built than Marutis. Because many people gauge the safety of cars based on how thick the outer sheet metal is, how much dimples it gets, whether the door closes with a thud, etc.

- Wireless charging, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
-Larger, free-standing touchscreen with an all-new interface, jointly developed with Toyota.
- Electronic Stability Program (ESP) in top variants
- Maruti Suzuki is also likely to discontinue the expensive CVT automatic and introduce a Swift like single clutch automatic or AMT ( more refined, with filter?).
- 2022 Baleno will also get an all-new interior. The focal point is the new floating centre console that gets a new free-standing screen on top and a pair of vents below. The buttons for the air con system are situated below these and are nicely blended into the organic looking and layered dash.
- The sporty instrument panel gets a pair of deep-set clear dials, with a multi-information display at the centre and Maruti Suzuki’s sporty flat bottom steering wheel from the Swift.

Six airbags- I guess they knew that Gadkari sir are going to take this step, therefore get the marketing benefit early on (As Kia have also introduced 6 airbags in basic carens).
Thicker Steel - Remove all the hush-hush and buzz-buzz. I think they took this video seriously.

Maruti should stop all the gimmicks and start focusing on real issues. At least to the level of Tata and Mahindra. They have not done it perfectly but atleast started a conversation around safety.

Instead of bringing the AMT in to the new Baleno, Maruti should be looking at introducing CVT on Swift! I am sure there are many who want to go for an automatic hatchback from Maruti but eventually pull out because of AMT.

I feel the CVT in baleno is no good either. I drove Baleno CVT and the rubberband effect is way too prominent in that car. AMT is a no go. Instead, they should stick the 6 speed AT from international markets.

After reading about all the supposed improvements, eagerly waiting to see this in the flesh. Guess it'll come down to the Baleno Petrol vs the Altroz Diesel for me.

re: 2022 Maruti-Suzuki Baleno, now launched at Rs. 6.35 lakh

New Baleno price announcement around February 20

Maruti Suzuki Nexa dealerships have begun accepting bookings for new Baleno .

Gets major updates inside out
Will get a CNG variant in future

Quote:
Baleno seem to have been redesigned and when seen from upfront, the car looks wider than its predecessor.
Quote:
the new Baleno gets L-shaped wraparound headlamps that will get LED daytime running lamps and projector set-up depending on variant. The hood seems to be flatter, but continues with its clamshell design. The newly designed grille has a “smiley look” and is now much larger.
Quote:
the front and the rear fenders have been redesigned to accomodate new-look head and tail lamps. At the back, the 2022 Baleno gets a new tailgate design, new L-shaped tail lamps that now extend all the way to the tailgate and a new bumper.
To get the updated S Cross infotainment:

Quote:
The 2022 Baleno will get a completely redesigned dashboard with a free-standing infotainment screen taking centre stage. The infotainment system will be upgraded and will also feature wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, among others.
Quote:
Maruti Suzuki will offer a heads up display unit, or HUD, on the new Baleno. The system isn't likely to be as customisable as the ones on luxury cars, but there will still be a fair amount of useful set-up that will be possible to the display.
New 2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno: six airbags on higher variants

Quote:
The airbag count on the new Baleno will be up to six on the top models – driver and passenger airbags along with curtain bags, both for the front and rear passengers. Higher models could also come with the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) as well.

re: 2022 Maruti-Suzuki Baleno, now launched at Rs. 6.35 lakh

The news mentions that, Maruti may discontinue CVT and provide AMT as optional. If that's true, it would be very disappointing. The AMT started as a cost effective makeshift arrangements for Automatics in Indian car industry and now it has become defacto standard in Automatic Sub 10 lakhs cars. Having driven both manual, CVT and AMT extensively in India and abroad, I can vouch for the superior driving experience of CVT and Torque Converter. IMHO there should be at least an option CVT in new generation Baleno.

re: 2022 Maruti-Suzuki Baleno, now launched at Rs. 6.35 lakh

Maruti testing updated Smart Play Studio for Baleno/ Glanza.

Quote:
- dashboard looked quite unusual with AC pipes coming out of the vents.

- inspection of the cabin revealed that the touch screen infotainment system was under test - multiple wires and of course a laptop in there.

- 2022 Baleno will get an updated infotainment system, so will its rebadged Toyota.
version, the Glanza. In fact, also spotted the Toyota logo on the screen. Looks to get advanced connected features too

- The boot lid, you will notice the letters RS. Will Maruti offer the Baleno with higher output ?

re: 2022 Maruti-Suzuki Baleno, now launched at Rs. 6.35 lakh

Updated Baleno launch likely on last week of Feb (17/18th ?).

Quote:
The company has sent an invite for 24 February( media drive?), suggesting that 2022 Baleno will hit the markets probably a few days ahead of that
Quote:
Expect Maruti Suzuki to officially open its order books for the new Baleno by next week.
Quote:
the top-end Alpha trim of the new Baleno will come equipped with six airbags as opposed to dual front airbags on the rest of the variants.

No more spy shots, even after production has commenced. Surprising that MS has managed to keep it under wraps nearly 10 days into production. They must have thousands of cars lined up in the stock yard, and yet no better quality photographs.
