The matte graphite colour looks great in sunlight as well but I don’t know what’s Kia’s obsession with those ugly orange highlights all over the car! Even the Anniversary edition had them.

Looking beautiful in natural light except for the orange accent. I wonder how will the matte clear coat age with swirls and scratches compared to a normal clear coat.

Kia has launched a new top-of-the-line variant of the Seltos. The Seltos X Line is available with petrol and diesel engine options with prices starting at Rs. 17.79 lakh (ex-showroom).



The Seltos X Line comes in a unique Xclusive Matte Graphite exterior colour and 18-inch diamond-cut Matte Graphite alloy wheels. On the inside, the SUV gets Indigo Pera leatherette upholstery. It comes equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and UVO connect.



Some of the cosmetic features that are exclusive to the X Line variant include:

• Matte Graphite radiator grille with Piano Black frame
• Fog lamp with Xclusive Piano Black accent
• Xclusive Piano Black Front Skid Plates with Sun Orange accents
• Xclusive Piano Black Rear Skid Plates with Sun Orange accents
• Xclusive Piano Black Dual Muffler Design
• Xclusive Piano Black Tailgate Garnish
• Side door garnish with Sun Orange Accents
• Center Wheel Cap with Sun Orange Accents
• Xclusive Piano Black ORVM
• Xclusive Piano Black Shark Fin Antenna
• An X Line emblem

The Seltos X Line is available with a choice of either the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 138 BHP and 242 Nm or the 1.5-litre diesel unit that makes 113 BHP and 250 Nm. The former gets a 7-speed DCT, while the diesel engine comes mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Seltos X Line ex-showroom prices:

• 1.4L Petrol 7DCT - Rs. 17.79 lakh
• 1.5L Diesel 6AT - Rs. 18.10 lakh

KIA's website has a different starting price of 18.1L. Haven't enabled location access on the browser and hence I'm guessing this is not a case of a higher cost in some states.

Ex-showroom for the turbo petrol 7DCT is 17.79L and diesel 6AT is 18.10L. I believe Kia has made a mistake on their website and mentioned the higher price as the starting price.

Now, this is drool-worthy.

Though I am not going to buy it for other reasons; primary being barely 3-star safety rating.

I wish this gives ideas to other OEMs.

It's around Rs 30000 more expensive on road than GTX plus variant. For 30k , what you get additional is 18 inch alloy wheels and some new color schemes.

Is the Matt grey the only paint option in the Xline? Glad they finally got rid of all the chrome but that Matt finish isn’t for me. Would look great in a gloss grey with the black accents.

Orange is the new chrome.
But I still believe it looks better than cheesy red accents that are oh so common with anything sport, cue i20 N-Line.

If Instagram is to be believed, people are installing 20 inchers on Thar with razor thin profile tyres. They must be collecting bones in a gunny sack after hour long drive.

Looks like maintaining the matte paint will be a real pain. Kia recommends not to polish/ wax as well as not to wash the car in direct sunlight.

Whatever Kia has mentioned in the Dont's section holds true for glossy paints too. Actually matte clear coats are more hardy. You would not see any normal swirl marks/wash marring because the surface already diffuses the light.

But with glossy finishes, we can periodically polish the paint and correct the defects like swirl marks, water spots etc. and you will get a brand new finish again. With matte, we don't have that option. Once any scratch or water mark sets in, it is there for life unless we repaint.

I would not recommend this color for the average car consumer.

Hi - has anyone bought petrol variant of X-line? how's their ownership experience of maintaining matte finish and ride quality considering the 18inch alloys?

A pricey cosmetic makeup for an already priciest car in the segment. Is this due the Tata Dark range which is getting some good customer base? Instead of focusing on the exterior and interior upgrade, a dedicated focus on making the car safety proof would have paid off more than this. Someone with huge pockets only are going to go for this for the status look. All the best to Kia.
