New car launches in India in September 2021

The month of September 2021 is expected to witness a number of new cars being launched in the market. Here are all the important ones.

The month started off with the launch of the Kia Seltos X Line. The new Seltos X Line is now the range-topping variant in the SUV's lineup, being positioned above the GTX+. The Seltos X Line is priced at Rs 17.79 lakh (ex-showroom) and comes with a bunch of updates, both inside and out.

Hyundai i20 N-Line

Hyundai has launched the sportier N Line version of its i20 hatchback in the Indian market. The new Hyundai i20 N Line is offered in three variants and comes with a starting price of Rs 9.84 lakh (ex-showroom).

The i20 N Line is offered with a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder engine producing 118 BHP and 172 Nm, paired with either a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT.

New-Gen Force Gurkha

The new-gen Force Gurkha has been a much-awaited model for quite a while now. First showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo, the go-anywhere off-roader - a direct rival to the Mahindra Thar is finally set to launch in India this month.

The company has released the official teaser of the upcoming Gurkha 3-door model, while the SUV was recently spied completely uncamouflaged as well.

The new Force Gurkha will be powered by a 2.6-litre diesel engine producing 89 BHP and 260 Nm. It is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission, with a low-range gearbox sending power to all four wheels.

Volkswagen Taigun

Volkswagen will be introducing its new Taigun SUV in the Indian market on September 23, 2021. The new Volkswagen Taigun is based on the brand's MQB-A0 IN platform, which also underpins the Skoda Kushaq.

The Taigun will be offered with a choice of two petrol engines - a 1.0-litre TSI unit producing 113 BHP / 175 Nm and a 1.5-litre TSI churning out 148 BHP / 250 Nm. A 6-speed manual gearbox will be offered as standard with both engines, while the 1.0-litre unit gets a 6-speed automatic option and the 1.5-litre engine receives an optional 7-speed DSG transmission.

MG Astor

MG Motor is expected to launch the new Astor SUV in the Indian market sometime this month. The MG Astor will be a new addition to the brand's product lineup in the country. It will come packed with a host of features, including Level-2 autonomous technology and MG's CAAP platform.

Powering the MG Astor will be a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 118 BHP and 150 Nm. There will also be a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol unit available churning out 161 BHP and 230 Nm. Both engines will receive a choice of manual and automatic transmissions.

Tata Punch

Tata Motors recently unveiled its upcoming micro-SUV, the Punch. While the exact launch date is yet to be announced, the car is expected to go on sale this festive season. Once launched in India, the Tata Punch will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and the upcoming Hyundai Casper.

Tata Motors is expected to offer the Punch with two petrol engine options. This includes a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated unit or a turbocharged 1.2-litre engine. Transmission options will include either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT.

New-gen Maruti Suzuki Celerio

Another much-awaited model for the Indian market is the next-generation Celerio hatchback from Maruti Suzuki. The new-gen iteration is set to receive a complete overhaul in its design, which was spied last month during its TVC shoot.

The new-gen Celerio will also receive significant updates to its interior. Mechanically, it is expected to get the same 1.0-litre engine along with a 1.2-litre petrol unit.

Audi e-tron GT

Audi has teased the e-tron GT for the Indian market. The all-electric sedan from the German carmaker could go on sale in the country sometime this month.

The Audi e-tron GT is powered by two electric motors producing 469 BHP and 630 Nm, with an over-boost function bumping up the power to 523 BHP. The car comes with an 85 kWh battery pack, offering a maximum of 488 km on a single charge.
