A friend of mine used to have a TVS Spectra scooter. A pretty unpopular scooter so there were not many around. He used to run a Pool Parlour near a college. There was one British girl who also had the same scooter in the same colour. She used to park it and play pool. On day another friend decided to take my friends Spectra for some errands. And you guessed it, he put the key into the girls scooter and took off. When we went outside we were surprised to see our friends scooter still there. After sometime our other friend comes back riding the girls scooter. But this is not the end of the story. After a few days my friends scooter gets stolen. Next day the cops find it abandoned with a key in the ignition. Not what are the odds of 3 unpopular scooters have exactly the same key.

On three occasions this has happened. I see a vehicle with the same last four digits as my vehicle either just behind me or just ahead of me.

On two occasions I have seen vehicles with the last four digits being x + 1 when my vehicle's was x.

On each occasion it was a different vehicle.

Was at the club for lunch the previous Sunday. Came back to find this rare sight. Considering the Passat is such a rare car to spot on our roads, what are the chances of two being parked beside each other, in almost empty parking lot?! Didn't bump into the owner of the other car when I was leaving though. Guessing they are a car / Passat fan too since they decided to specifically park next to mine despite the whole lot being almost empty.

Apparently my Passat is the only Pyrite Silver example in Kolkata (as told to me by the sales advisor). I am yet to spot another one in the same colour as mine, though I have seen a few in other shades.

I bought a used Classic 350 which was 800 km and 1 month. Registration number was KA03XX8547. Went to JC road to get a side box fitted and to my surprise, the side box key number was 8547

So what are the odds of having two same coloured Punto Evos parked next to each other in a mall parking?

We while registering our vehicles prefer having its registered number totalling 9 or its multiples. I still don't understand why we follow that, it was dad who started and I just follow.

In 2009 we picked up our MS Dzire with registration as 4518 ( we paid 2k back then and chose this number out of 4 options that we got).

in 2011 we picked up TVS Apache with the Registration 1584 ( again we paid 2k and chose a number among the 3 options we got)

Fast forward 2 years, while washing both the vehicles I suddenly realised that both numbers are the same when interchanged that is 4518----1584

I have three which I can think of:

• Our 2006 Ford Fiesta used to have the licence plate UP16M81XX (before re-registration in Hyderabad). In the exact same place of residence, there was a Honda City with the plate UP16M81XX, with a difference of 26 between their last two digits. This was in Hyderabad, so two cars from Noida with very similar licence plates ending up in the exact same location (and parking lot!) was a neat little coincidence.
• Concerning the same Fiesta, turns out that a BHPian owning a Fiesta stays in the same location as me, and also wrote a review on it. Both of us had also photographed our cars in the same location, which is evident if you look closely at our reviews. It gets even wilder, that BHPian actually spotted me from their balcony taking pictures for my review!
• Close to Pune, we had stopped for a short break as we were driving from Hyderabad in the same day, in our Lava Blue Škoda Superb L&K. While we were stopped, I saw another, Delhi registered, Lava Blue Škoda Superb L&K drive by. Two identical Superbs, far away from their homes!
