A Close Look | Tata Safari Gold Edition

Tata Safari Gold Edition

Earlier this month, Tata Motors announced the launch of the Safari Gold Edition. The Gold Edition is based upon XZ+/ XZA+ variants and is available in both 6 & 7-seater versions of the SUV. It is priced at Rs. 21.89 lakh for the MT and Rs. 23.17 Lakh for the AT.

The Gold Edition includes cosmetic changes to the exterior and interior of the Safari and some additional features. There are no mechanical changes to the car.

Here is a close look at the Safari Gold Edition.

Exterior

The Gold Edition is available in two versions - White Gold and Black Gold:

Re: A Close Look | Tata Safari Gold Edition

Thanks for the brief overview

I personally find the gold edition to look very cheesy inside out. The adventure persona edition was far more tastefully done up than this. The gold inserts on the outside, the marble type finish on the inside which looks like it came from a 5 star hotel bathroom and even the embellishments around the instrument cluster just don't compliment the otherwise suave looks of the Safari.

Most importantly, I am not particularly impressed that Tata motors is launching special variants, adding features to them that should have been there in the first place and charging a premium for them. The ventilated seats atleast should have been part of standard equipment for the top end variants since the day this car was launched IMO.

Re: A Close Look | Tata Safari Gold Edition

Bling galore! Looks quite tacky to me especially the interior but I'm sure Tata will find takers for it. The added new features get a thumbs up - much needed post the XUV700 announcement.

Black exterior with white interior looks really odd as well.
Hope this golden trend doesn't trickle down to other Tata cars.

Blingy! I would assume there would be lot of takers for this- especially up North India

Re: A Close Look | Tata Safari Gold Edition

Dark Edition/Camo Edition with the added features would’ve done wonders for both Tata Motors and the Safari. Only useful feature is the Ventilated seats.

The OG Safari must be thinking from a basic 4WD to Gold Editions we certainly lost the plot, OG Safari must be thanking the folks at Tata Motors for discontinuing it!

Re: A Close Look | Tata Safari Gold Edition

So now if you need Ventilated seats you HAVE to buy gold edition? This is pure atrocity. Why force something onto customers ? What is Tata thinking exactly with such variant lineups

I would much rather prefer to have a normal looking top variant of the Car with all the features!

That infotainment system needs to GO. It doesn't belong on a car costing more than 10l, let alone one costing 25l.

Re: A Close Look | Tata Safari Gold Edition

These white marble(ish) and gold remind me of some pictures from Saddam's era.

I recall Honda launching anniversary editions, with gold plated labels that eventually fade under sunny Indian conditions.

Re: A Close Look | Tata Safari Gold Edition

A very strange edition to do. Honestly looks weird on a very nice looking car. If I were a customer, I would not even think of buying it. At 27-28L On Road, am sure no one would want these kind of cheesy bits on such a SUV. It would have been simpler just to launch another variant with the additional features not seen in other variants.

I think Mr. Pratap Bose wouldn't have allowed this edition to see daylight if he was still present.

Re: A Close Look | Tata Safari Gold Edition

Way too blingy for my personal taste. However, the addition of useful features (ventilated seats, wireless charging, wireless android auto/carplay) are good. Looks like the competition has them worried.

On a seperate note, can existing Safari owners retrofit ventialted seats into their vehicles now? I am assuming that Tata would not have made changes to the seat rails...which means it is just a matter of procuring the ventialted seats. The button being on the seat itself makes it simpler to just affix the ventilated seats onto the existing seat rails without having to worry about wirings. Only power supply needs to be configured (which is a big unknown at this point i admit).

Re: A Close Look | Tata Safari Gold Edition

Going against the tide and I hate garish bling, but that black marble looks rather good to me.
I wish they had toned down the exteriors a bit though - to me it looks like a well done DIY job that handy, resourceful owner could do on their regular Safari.

With Tata on a roll with these editions, a sport edition with matte paint and orange bits isn't too far.

Re: A Close Look | Tata Safari Gold Edition

Wow!
Who is the target audience?

People with Gold studs, gold tooth and gold watches?
And why not golden color upholstery?

Tata taking it too far with this color scheme. May be targeting Diwali/ Dhan-teras!
