As long as the regular Fortuner’s 4X4 continues, customers have an option atleast to choose between the two. And they have added the features which the regular Fortuner 4X4 got and the Legender 4X2 missed to this Legender 4X4. Like the 11 speaker JBL sound system.

With Toyota we’ve always known how they over charge customers, but with no option left after Ford’s exit, they know that the Fortuner will continue selling.

With such obnoxious pricing, 10 years life in the NCR for a diesel and DPF issues plaguing the Fortuner, I feel happy with my decision to buy a 2.7 GX Innova Crysta Petrol and a Thar LX Petrol still saving 15L from the Legender's on-road pricing.

The Crysta serves the family needs well while I get to pick the Thar for my off-roading and river rafting pleasures

Think Toyota equates 11 speaker system with 4x4 variants, so the 4x2 Legender does not get it, but the 4x4 does.

Legender itself of course is a rip off. That should have been the standard Fortuner facelift. Only Toyota could have got away with making the comprehensive external facelift into a whole new sub-brand, and charge extra for it. That too being available only in one color.

Imagine the additional price hike when Toyota "introduces" new colors on the Legender

BTW havent seen too many Legenders on the road. Does it really sell that well? Or is it a NCR effect for me?

Preposterous pricing but they can do it because stupid Ford packed their bags and there's an extreme dearth of proper 4x4 body-on-frames. Also, it's a fun vehicle, drove a 2.8AT 2WD last week. Bouncy but cool, very cool.

I wish those idiots at Tata had woken up in 2017 and slapped a 4x4 in the Hexa XTA, but those guys seem to in a coma rather than deep sleep.
Still not too late as BS6 XMA 4x4 was spotted but seeing Tata's track record at dodging 4WD (or a combination of it with AT), all hope is lost.

This is F25 X3 pricing from a decade ago. Quite a think to ponder about.

But hasn’t everything moved up the ladder? The G01 X3 is retailing at ₹63.7L ex-showroom today. With the facelift coming very soon, one can expect a ₹65L ex-showroom starting price. A pretty big jump over the F25!

This is true. 3 series/C class(next gen) will soon start with price tag of 60L OTR or more and in another 5 years will breach 75L mark for base variant. That said recent price hike and steep premium for Legender is uncalled for.

Oof that's steep. A 50 lakh Fortuner. Ford's exit has given them seemingly total command over pricing their product wherever they feel like to milk a self created gap by not launching the 4x4 earlier.

This is absolutely insane pricing. 4.15 lakhs more for quad LED setup and kick sensor for boot? On-road pricing in states with high road tax will cross 53 lakhs.

Yes Karan, I was expecting this and the price hike is seen only for Fortuner and not for Innova because now it faces a competition from XUV 700. Fortuner now has a monopoly (kind-of) now with no competition at all and I see this for years to come.

Do people really cross-shop between the 3 and Fortuner? Both of them are extremely different cars catering to different needs IMO.

Further, the 3 has competition, the Fortuner has none.

As far as price hikes for the Fortuner, what we are seeing now are the perils of monopoly
