So now FIAT is telling all those poor souls who bought the 1.1. Look we fooled you. Now your non existent resale will fall even further, and people who waited a bit will get a more powerful car for similar price!
Will they never learn? They cant play around customers like this. Imagine that in August a 65bhp Palio comes at same price. The ones who got the older 1.1 will feel cheated, and rightly so.
You are destroying their resale value.

I bought Palio 1.6 Sports in APR-2006, and heard that in JUL-2006, they were giving heavy discount to the tune of Rs 60000=00 on the same model. Really Pi**ed out with the behaviour of FIAT & TATA.

@tsk:

Yes they will feel cheated. But tell me frankly, how many? No offense to anyone, but Fiat is not exactly setting the sales charts on fire.

@theMAG:

What about the Tatas? They will scream blue murder.

I'm sure they'll be hopping mad. Hence the "cheeky" possibility from Fiat

Thats the problem. If they continue this type of behavior, it will remain a 200 units/month.
Fiat has succeeded in doing what no other manufacturer has been able to do in the market. Make one of the best cars in the most lucrative segment a no-show and the last choice. Thats their only claim to fame.

I would say Better late than Never!

But I never understood the logic of Fiat India of downgrading 1.2 engine to 1.1, for mileage conscious junta, 1.2 NV engine with a FE of 12 - 13 kmpl was good enough and for performance enthuisiasts 1.6 was always there!

So instead of wasting their time & effort on 1.1, they could have bought the 1.3 Multijet on Palio which would have boosted their Sales charts, but strange are the ways of Fiat India!

Anyway, since I am done with a hatch, I will wait for the Fiat Linea!

There is no scope of a MUL and Fiat tie up, since MUL cant cope up with servicing up their own products, dealerships are over flowing already.

To get the benefit from the excise cut.

MAG got a point...At last the FIAT owners could be able to get spares for their 1.3L....From Maruti of course

Was it 1300 from the start of the current financial year or was it from the January 2007? If it was the first, then its rather jolly good, but if they meant the later, which I think they did, well Fiat is on course for achieving its sales target for the year -3000 units.

Again am referring to vasudeva's link for sales figures :

vasudeva - MONTHLY DOMESTIC SALES-FOUR WHEELERS

Compact segment:
Jan 07-> 0
Feb 07-> 127
Mar 07-> 242
April 07-> 234

Mid-size segment
Jan 07-> 58
Feb 07-> 30
Mar 07-> 17
April 07-> 18

The introduction of the MJD would be the best possible thing and if they change[changing to 16 valves] according to market response why not,its definitely a good sign,however i do wish fiat had continued with the petra till the linea was launched atleast. I think the MJD in the petra would also have worked wonders.

Hello people,
Any idea when the 1.1 16 valve is going to be out.. Was contemplating going for a Stile 1.1 as the 1.6 at 5 Lacs OTR in banglore was just a little out of my budget. But if the 1.1 is as peppy with a 65 Ps output.. woudlnt mind that.

That is surprising. I am actually speechless. What about the break up? In Palio and Adventure terms?

Have been under the impression that the sales have been crawling. Hmmm. Have to re-evaluate. But still, 3,000 is a low number though compared to last financial year's 2000 odd units it is a definite 'improvement'.

@Nimz:

If you know Fiat, you should have the answer - don't know. But if you can wait, then please TD it for us.
