Coming this June, EDIT, now Diwali!!: NHC with ABS and Airbags and Vtec in GXi

Honda is facing the heat with the launch of the SX4, the Zxi trim of the SX4 makes the NHC look spartan.

So Honda have decided to give the NHC some safety features which it diserved since quite long, since a New City is almost a year ahead.

Also Vtec will now be available in the GXi trim at a increase in price by Rs. 20000/-

I think ABS/Airbags will be available at no additional cost.

A little confusing who would want to go for the separate vtec variant then, considering its price.

Ya its quite confusing indeed, butttt the Vtec will have four wheel discs, alloy wheels, MP3, fog lamps more then the GXi. I am sure Honda will be coming up with something interesting, after all Honda till date has all succesful cars in India, none of them have flopped, so SX4 wont be able to take the lead with ease and with these upgrades its going to be tougher for the SX4.

If the CVT variant of NHC gets kitted with the abs/airbags then I would opt for it any day over the SX4 - more kit or not
Unless of course the SX4 can come up with their auto variant
BUSA - is this news in the new Autocar India magazine - not on their website right now

GXi has Alpine 98xx which plays MP3 & WMA.

Lets wait & see what they actually bring up. By the time they do, SX4 would have sold lots.

SX4 is selling like hot cakes. The mid variant (regular ZX) is selling the most. I think HONDA needs to come up with somehting really good to match with the SX4. I have seen and experienced the car. Its a tank when compared to the NHC. Starting from the size of the wheels to the body lines and of course the equipment, engine, interiors....what all will HONDA need to catch up?

How about the price difference? Is Honda going to do something about it otherwise I doubt if adding these features, which should have been in car right from the beginning, will make any huge difference.

I would plumb for the NHC in that case. I am assuming the pricing is comparable.

I voted for SX4. I have not been impressed by its front looks and the rear sitting position for the person in the middle. However, I like the front sitting position and the ease of getting inside the car. The build quality is also good.

Rather unlikely - they might add ABS and airbags in the VTEC, and keep the price same.

Adding VTEC + airbags + alloys and other goodies available in current VTEC trim to the Gxi for just 20k extra is a tall asking.
Though if it does happen we will know MUL got Honda sh*t scared.
