Thank you for the review. Can you clarify a couple of points? Not sure which variant you bought, but does your Tucson (or any other variant) have auto-folding external/door mirrors? Curious, because looking at a US Tucson owner's manual, it appears the external/door mirrors have to be manually closed, if needed. It cannot be done electrically. This seems a bit odd for such a car, unless for some reason, I am mis-reading the manual. Auto/power folding external mirrors are available on much cheaper cars.

Also, the seat memory option does not apparently set external mirrors either. Most cars with seat memory will also include the same memory setting for external mirrors too. Can you clarify, if you know, based on your experience with your car and your buying experience (if any other variant possibly has these options)?

Thank you! We bought the 2.5 Mid variant. The door mirrors close automatically whenever we lock or unlock the car and there's a switch inside if we need to close them manually. As far as I remember, even the base variant had power-folding mirrors.

My variant does not have the seat memory option, only electric seat adjustment, so I am not sure about that.

Again seem to be destined to Nepal. There's Telluride & another Hyundai whose taillights don't resemble anything launched or planned in India.

All these cars are going to Nepal, the truck has a Santa-Fe on it as well, which is not meant for/coming to India.

All these trucks are from Nagaland, they are used to transport cars to Nepal. Indian cars will always be transported in closed trucks.

re: 4th-Gen Hyundai Tucson spotted testing in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 27.70 lakh

In somewhat more promising news, Autocar India reports that Tucson may be the first of the four SUVs that Hyundai will release this year (the other three are just updates of Venue, Creta and Kona). While the others will be released later in the year, Tucson "is set to launch in our market in the coming months". Of course, I am not sure how one defines "coming months"!!

re: 4th-Gen Hyundai Tucson spotted testing in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 27.70 lakh

Hope Hyundai will launch Tucson sooner. We do like the road presence of current gen Tucson but the interiors are a let down. New Tucson, though quite bold on outside with many creases going left right centre, has nice looking premium interiors.

I have a feeling 2022 Creta which will have front grill similar to that of New Tucson, will make this design very common in India, hence giving us Tiguan-Taigun scenario, wherein its difficult to figure out which one you have spotted on road?!

In any case, looking forward to Tucson launch and price announcement. Hope Hyundai will do it by March.

re: 4th-Gen Hyundai Tucson spotted testing in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 27.70 lakh

I have been following up with Popular Hyundai Trivandrum for updates on new Tucson to replace my 2011 Fluidic Verna CRDI SX(O) with 125K on the odometer. They continue to give the same status (even last week) that they have no details regarding Tucson launch but said Tucson would be launch only after Creta and Venue facelift launches. This makes me think Tucson launch would happen only in later half of this year.

I really doubt dealers will reveal anything about the new Tucson early even if they have some insights since this may hamper the current Tucson sales. There will be people on the edge to buy and any news about the new Tucson launch dates might put dent on current Tucson sales.

Since the new generation Tucson has short and long wheel base versions, it'll be interesting to see what they bring to India. From spy shots, its not clear but I'm assuming if anyone has seen it in person (even in spy shots) might be able to figure out which variant it might be.

I think they might launch Tucson first solely because of the design language that Hyundai has adopted for their facelifts. If the design language isn't well accepted, the Creta and Venue which are doing good numbers in their current avatars, those might take a hit. Hyundai might test the waters so to speak by launching Tucson first and later launching Creta and Venue.

True, can't make out whether the test mules are short or long wheel-base versions but I suspect it will be the long wheel base version because that is what most countries seem to be getting. The SWB version seems to be primarily meant for Europe, though even Mexico is getting the SWB version. Not sure who else is getting the SWB version. The difference in any case isn't much: the wheelbase difference is 2680 mm for the SWB vs. 2755 mm for the LWB. Still, I hope India gets the LWB version.

Some comparison for reference from difference sources. Please do point out if anything looks incorrect:

And, according to this report, AWD will be available only in the diesel version . I can only hope the report is wrong because I was hoping for the petrol AWD Tucson, after VW basically priced the Tiguan out of my league. Buying diesel makes no sense in the NCR, given the 10-year rule. Even for the rest of the country, seeing the uncertainty of pollution standards and the very real possibility that courts or govt may at some point consider banning diesel personal vehicles altogether, diesel is a risky proposition. One can only hope that the report is wrong on this and Hyundai brings in AWD in both petrol & diesel.

It will be interesting if they can offer the hybrid version too as that will make it a strong contender(for a petrol SUV) in this segment and price range.

We only have Camry which is a very premium offering and with rumours(strong) of Honda city hybrid as well as Maruti/Toyota SUV, it makes sense for Hyundai also to test the sentiments with Tucson(before they decide to push for hybrid on Creta)
