I fear the civic will not yet be here. The latest civic that is sold here in North America strongly resembles the OHC. ANd noways can I digest that 12-14 lacs price or those heavy engine specifications.

The civic here is very cheap and also has a hybrid variant but those specs are undigestible.

The new civic may come around this November or latest by early next year.

I believe the car will be around 9-11 lacs and specs may sound something like 1.8 litre 130bhp vtec.

busts a dream! there should be a variant that starts at least from 10L!
Btw there are not enough pics of the new Civic on the net. The Si variant for europe is seen on net. So may be honda is planning to launch the old civic! not a very exciting news!

AS i reported in the earlier post the civic wont be here before next year. Here is the article.THe reason is just that the civic here is very similar to the old HOnda city.

New Delhi , May 23

HONDA may be rolling out its international bestseller the Honda Civic, a premium mid-size sedan, as its next offering for the Indian market.

Industry sources say that the Indian subsidiary, Honda Siel Cars India Ltd, has started preliminary work on the new car, which is likely to be launched in 2006.

Sources add that Honda Sielis in the process of tying up with local vendors for manufacturing the car.

The new car will compete with the Toyota Corolla and the Hyundai Elantra, and is likely to be priced in the Rs 9-10 lakh range.

Worse than waiting for the monsoon. It dries or floods! Though there is market potential car makers are making slow and steady (lazy???) steps into india.

certainly a ghetto looking car...competes with the Toyota Prius ...

Going by the step-motherly treatment that both honda and toyota give to India, my guess is that honda will probably launch the current civic at around 11-13 lacs to compete with the corolla. Frankly, I feel the current civic is a long outdated model and it really has nothing going for it. I have driven the car and forget about everything else, the damn thing is so uncomfortable! Sad part is, Indians blindly trust anything thrown at them with the honda or toyota logo and actually buy the stuff at premium prices!
Long and short of the story is that the current corolla is a zillion times better then the current civic. Hopefully, honda will prove me wrong and launch the new civic and hopefully the new civic will look nothing like the NHC.

No it is the civic. I will post the pics soon. I just am not able to get the car in daylight at that place. Hopefully I will try on sunday. I have seen the insight.WOnder why they covered the wheels though. Toyota also has the prius up and is a better looker than honda.

In what way? The current Civic is as good a car, if not better than the current Corolla. It looks better, has more space, has better interiors, has a bigger boot, is as powerful (depending on the engine chosen), is as frugal and as reliable. There's very little to separate the two, but the Civic is a better car overall. Both feel fragile but last a lifetime...

the current civic sedan

I dont think it can be priced that expensive. It looks so similar to the city that nobody will buy it. WHy buy a ohc kinda car when the nhc is around already for cheap??
