well power cut was always on the cards ... not surprising ... just sad

as for hyundai ... they loose out in the way in which power is transfered to the wheels ... if you look at the specs of say ... the accent 1.6 DOHC ... you'd expect more performance than it actually gives on the road.

I am sure VW could have extracted more HP out of the engine at the expense of torque but probably they decided to balance out things. Before I get shouted down for saying something remotely against VTEC, I am not too impressed with the 2.5L mill of the VW.
Little OT: Has anyone in US/Canda driven the new Mazda3 5 door? It's got more power then a civic.. got more torque then civic.. looks quite nice and refreshing.. how does it compare it with the new Civic? .. I know Honda will be always Honda.. and Mazda doesn't have the same brand image... and price wise also it's quite sweet.. it's selling well.. but I think it's not a super hit like 2006 Civic Si Coupe.
I think Ford should also bring in the Mazda3/ Mazda6 as a possible competitor for Civic/Corolla.

The Mazda 3 was Canada's best selling car for quite a few months last year. It was outselling the last Civic by a very good margin.

Thats not surprising Busa and alongwith that, out go ABS, Side curtain airbags , active front head restraints and maybe all 4 air bags too.

My sis owns a Mazda3 in Seattle. Great little car. Hers is the 2.4 engine with sport package. Awesome steering feel and handling. Feels like a much bigger car. Its a little heavy and the FE is poor (26 mpg). Interior finish is not as good as CIvic. I havent driven the new Civic..so cannot comments. The 2.4 will compete with the Civic Si which has 200 horses.

I was expecting this, hope they increased the Torque figures significantly. If it can deliver corolla matching performance on road then I won't have anything to complain about!

Hyundai is mocked at because, even though they reduce their engine specs in India they continue quoting the international specs

It is well known that Korean horses are weaker than European or american horses, that;s because Hyundai misquotes their BHP/Torque figures to mislead public.
