Honda Amaze spied; could this be the CNG variant?

A test mule of the Honda Amaze has been spotted testing. As you can see in these images, the test car was equipped with an emissions testing apparatus. This has led to speculations that it could be a CNG variant of the Amaze.

The Amaze CNG is likely to be powered by the same 1.2-litre, i-VTEC petrol engine as the standard model. It produces 89 BHP and 110 Nm when running on petrol. However, the engine's output is likely to drop slightly when running on CNG. The engine could be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.

The Honda Amaze competes with the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Tata Tigor. While the Aura is available with a factory-fitted CNG option, CNG variants of the Dzire and Tigor are said to be in the works.

Re: Honda Amaze spied; could this be the CNG variant?

I don't see much value in Honda investing in CNG for Amaze. None of their cars are used by Taxi services like Swift or Indica. They should have worked on the refinement level of their diesel engines instead of CNG. This maybe the outcome of ever rising petrol prices?

I hardly see any CNG stations in B towns. Even if there is one, it is hogged up by Taxiswalas and Autowalas or it is either out of stock.

Honda should bring in a Creta competitor instead of this effort on CNG.
