Mahindra Scorpio Classic testing continues.

- Mahindra to sell the Scorpio Classic alongside the new Scorpio N.

- The Scorpio N will go on sale on June 27.

- The Scorpio Classic should get the existing model’s 120PS 2.2-litre diesel engine.

It will be positioned below the Scorpio N in Mahindra’s line-up.
The test mule spotted was the top-spec S11 trim and had body-coloured door handles and ORVMs and alloy wheels.

Mahindra Scorpio Classic in bright red spotted

A Mahindra Scorpio Classic finished in bright red has been spotted just ahead of its launch.



The Scorpio Classic will be sold alongside the Scorpio N. As you can see, the SUV is expected to feature minor changes, including a revised front grille with the new Mahindra logo, projector headlamps and refreshed tail lamp clusters. It will also get dual-tone alloy wheels, roof rails, a roof spoiler and side steps.



The Scorpio Classic is also expected to get a few changes on the interior. It could get features like a touchscreen infotainment system with connected tech and cruise control; among others.



The Scorpio Classic is likely to be offered with the same 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine as before. It could be paired with a manual transmission.

Scorpio to soldier on as Scorpio Classic in just 2 variants - base S3+ & top S11.

Will get the 2.2L 132PS/300Nm engine from the base Scorpio-N variant.

Rest of the lineup to be discontinued.

It’s likely to be revealed alongside the Scorpio N on June 27.
The same engine first debuted on the Thar and will also be seen on the Scorpio N’s base-spec variants.
7-seater configuration to be standard; 9-seater with side facing seats on the cards.
Currently, you also have S5, S7, and S9 variants on offer which will be discontinued.
Exterior changes include a new colour, refreshed grille with the ‘Twin Peaks’ logo, tweaked bumpers, and fresh alloy wheel design.
The Classic will get rear-wheel drive as standard, keeping 4WD exclusive to the Scorpio N.

Mahindra Scorpio Classic to be offered in two variants

The Mahindra Scorpio Classic will be sold alongside the recently launched Scorpio N. According to a media report, the SUV will be offered in two variants.



The report states that the Scorpio Classic will come in entry-level ‘S’ and top-spec ‘S11’ trims. Both variants are likely to be offered in both 7 and 9-seat configurations. With this, Mahindra will cater to private buyers as well as fleet operators.

The Mahindra Scorpio Classic will be powered by a 138 BHP 2.2-litre diesel engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. An optional automatic gearbox and 4-wheel drive are unlikely to be offered on this model.

Mahindra hasn’t announced the launch date of the Scorpio Classic. However, reports suggest that the price announcement could be made soon.

While the exteriors look nice & butch, the interiors feel a generation old, especially if you consider the new ScorpioN's interiors. This Classic will have the oomph as far as performance goes, but will lag behind in ride / handling / braking by a mile.

It will sell as people still crave for old things, had happened when W105 (the '14 gen Scorpio S10 variant got launched) came out. Buyers took some time to warm unto it.

Quick observations on what is new in this compared to previous version (from the pics above):

• New Mahindra Logo
• Front grill (it resembles the one on previous facelift model)
• A possible DRL in the fog lamp housing? (not revealed in pic)
• Dual tone alloys
• A possible new UI on the infotainment screen
• A glossy gear knob
• New logo on the steering wheel and a blackened frame on the steering (looks totally off the place and not blending with it)
• A body colored vertical area above the tail lamp probably? Earlier it was black.

I wish they changed the seat/seat covers to a more plush and modern one.

What price range will this be positioned in? It has to be below Scorpio-N so price will be sub 10 lakh for the base model?

First of all - its nice to see that the trim line-up seems to be well maintained. They've not left only some bare-bones entry spec on sale. This one seems well kitted - even including a climate control, steering wrap, cruise control etc. So another positive shout out to Mahindra in the long list that they have been accumulating since a couple of years now. No stupid decisions!

Whats rather dumb IMO - is the direct fitment of a generic Android OS head-unit (all Chinese made and almost available at paan-shops now a days). While it may have a customized OS flashed into it - the position and angle of it is going to be a horrible user experience. Its way too low and not even pointing slightly upwards / towards the driver. Being a user of a similar Android HU since well over 2 years already - I know its perks. But good luck to the drivers having to look so far down to the left for navigation screen while driving.

Remains to be seen of course if this will be the OEM fitment in the final car on sale or its some jugaad done by those currently maintaining this car in testing.

Scorpio base model S has analog instrument cluster which is different from ice blue colour. Infotainment is not available. Many customisation options.
