Re: Tata Motors dispatches beat Hyundai in December 2021 | Now the no.2 car maker in India

This despite an imminent facelift launch expected next year. Despite two handicaps, a diesel and a DCA. Options which the sibling Altroz already has. I am surprised why Tata decided not to offer these two in the Punch.

Hyundai has managed to beat their YTD sales have seen a growth despite lesser sale compared to July 2023. Creta facelift will be enough for Hyundai to keep sales numbers high until end of this year.

Tata dispatched about 43,527 units in total in June 2024. This is based on the June 2024 car sales figure thread. So, even after discounts on most models the total sale has increased only by 1,198 only month-on-month (44,725 sold in July 2024 - 43,527 sold in June 2024)

Tata Motors lag behind Hyundai in August dispatches.

1. Hyundai 49,525 (8% Y-O-Y decline)
2. Tata 44,486 (3 percent Y-O-Y decline)

Tata has to update the Altroz with 6 airbags and some better kit to take some sales away from the i20. Also, i dont know why Tata launched the Racer variant without the DCA! I mean, the racer variant was always supposed to take on the i20 N line, right? So no DCA here baffles me!

Secondly, the Punch needs some updates as well, its got to get better kit and equipment to take the game further away from Hyundai and Suzuki.

And hopefully the Curvv ICE versions bring significant additional sales, potentially taking numbers from Creta and the Seltos.

The top 2 variants of the vanilla Altroz (XZ+ OS and XZ+ S LUX) also got 6 airbags and 3-point belts for all seats, although they are still not standard as in the i20.

I agree about the Racer needing an automatic but can't see Tata adding anything to the Punch soon as it is already selling so well that the updates would get lost.

Altroz racer should get an autobox soon as per the hint. They are looking at the acceptance of this variant and soon you should see this powerful engine soon in regular variants with DCA.

Coming to Punch, it's currently under testing phase and we'll see the updated Punch soon in 2025 after all homolgation soon. People don't need a powerful engine in the Punch as it's a budget car and if they want a powerful car, they'll upgrade to the Nexon anyways.
