New car launches in India in January 2022

The month of January 2022 is expected to witness a number of new cars being launched in the market. Here are all the important ones.

Audi Q7 facelift

Audi is all set to launch the updated version of its flagship SUV, the Q7 in the Indian market. Production of the new Audi Q7 facelift started last month, with its launch expected to take place sometime by the end of this month. The new Q7 facelift will be offered in two variants: Premium Plus & Technology. Both variants are said to be powered by a 3.0-litre petrol mild-hybrid engine producing 335 BHP & 500 Nm, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and Audi's Quattro all-wheel-drive system.

BMW X3 facelift

The BMW X3 facelift will be the first model from the brand to enter the Indian market this year. As per reports, the X3 facelift SUV is expected to go on sale from the second week of January 2022. The updated SUV comes with a bunch of subtle updates including a larger front grille, reworked LED headlamps and LED tail lights among others.

The 2022 BMW X3 facelift will be offered with 2 engine options - a 248 BHP, 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder petrol and a 188 BHP, 2.0-litre diesel unit. Both engines will come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Mahindra Bolero facelift

Mahindra is expected to introduce the Bolero facelift in January 2022. While there is no official confirmation, the company is rumoured to launch the updated Bolero sometime by the end of the month. The Bolero facelift was supposed to be launched sometime last year but was postponed due to the shortage of semiconductors.

The Mahindra Bolero facelift will be powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine producing 74 BHP and 210 Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.

Skoda Kodiaq facelift

Skoda will be launching the Kodiaq facelift in India on January 14, 2022. The 7-seater SUV comes with an updated front end, with revised LED headlamps, LED taillights and a number of other subtle updates.

The Skoda Kodiaq facelift will come with the same 2.0-litre TSI engine which powers the Skoda Superb and the Volkswagen Tiguan. The engine produces 187 BHP and 320 Nm, paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission.

Tata Motors has opened bookings for the CNG variants of the Tiago and Tigor, with the price announcement expected by the end of this month. The CNG versions of the two models will be powered by the same 1.2-litre engine, but will produce lower power and torque when running on CNG.

Toyota is all set to launch the Hilux pickup truck in the Indian market. Toyota dealers are reported to be accepting bookings for the pickup truck for an amount of Rs. 2 lakh. The Toyota Hilux has already started reaching dealerships and its launch is expected in the coming weeks.

The Toyota Hilux will come with two diesel engine options including the 2.4-litre unit from the Toyota Innova Crysta powering the lower variants and the 2.8-litre engine from the Fortuner powering the higher variants.
