If you look at the manual,, you find that the Vtec is detuned for India. Now that we have 93 octance petrol - is there anyway to bring the car back to original spec ?

The Indian Vtec has a compression ratio of 9:1. Maybe if we can increase that, the power will come to around 120bhp.

Regards..

Maybe some of our members from the tuning community would have inputs on this?

Remember Rtech confirming Comp ratio is 9.1:1 for the vtec, also remember Dom confirming the ECU being used in the Indian VTEC's being a P03.

However looking at the closest engine:

96+ Civic HX D15Z 1493cc
4 cyl, 16 valve
SOHC VTEC-E
9.4:1 c.r.
PGM-FI (MPFI)
115 bhp @ 6200
Redline: 7100 rpm 104 lb-ft @ 5400

or the

92-95 Civic VX D15Z1 1493cc
4 cyl, 16 valve
SOHC VTEC-E
9.3:1 c.r.
PGM-FI (MPFI)
92 bhp @ 5500
Redline: 7000 rpm 97 lb-ft @ 4500

The comp ratio is to a max of 9.4 and were designed to run on 91 octane. The ecu's however differ, the matching ecu code for a civic in the US is P08J or the P28.(http://www.hondata.com/vehicles.html...n&ct=clnk&cd=5) Also Hondata ECU's are available to remap the ecu's even further. Please note the Indian ECU is a OBD1 and not a OBD2.

Hope that this clears the doubts.

Leela has retuned his Vtec, it costed him Rs. 65,000 for the remap. The car goes all the way till 8500RPM.

Well Leela does his own remaps and ECU tuning and he specialises in ECU's like Link, Motec, Apexi etc.

Hondata is also a similar tool that can allow you to tune the ECU off the orignal Honda ECU with a few minor changes and a daughterboard. You can change parameters like VTEC engament rpm, rev limit, ignition map, fuel map etc.
