Re: Toyota Glanza, Urban Cruiser facelift to be launched this year

Does the Glanza still offer a better warranty as compared to Baleno?

E variant to S variant is 90,000 extra. E looks value for money compared to S factoring the additional features included IMO.

That aspect aside, I find the Suzuki Baleno a better looker than the Toyota Glanza, 'coz the latter seems a tad MPV-ish to me. Maybe a lowered suspension and narrow profile tyres will do wonders for the stance.

Nice TV commercial nonetheless!

Re: Toyota Glanza, Urban Cruiser facelift to be launched this year

20k premium on the Glanza for the equivalent model of the Baleno for a car that is identical - barring the interior theme color, alloy wheels and the front end.

Personally, this Glanza looks a bit dated compared to the new Baleno. The new Baleno is refreshing whereas this Glanza carries the Toyota visual cues.

About the warranty - is Maruti offering the exact same warranty as does Glanza or is that also a factor in the premium Glanza seeks?

New Glanza and New Baleno side by side, while the outgoing Glanza could only be differentiated from the old Baleno by its front grille and logo. Toyota has made considerable changes this time around to set it apart from its Maruti twin.

So is it that Glanza headlamps are the same as the Delta variant Baleno headlamps except that Baleno has halogen projectors and Glanza has LED (I am assuming).

The DRL's looks the same too.

Not sure about others but I find the Glanza headlamps gel better with the vehicle than the 3 LED thing on the Baleno Alpha.

Yeah... Glanza is offering 3 years 100k kms as standard warranty... Baleno comes with 2 years 40k kms as standard.

I find it odd that the original manufacturer is offering lesser warranty than the reseller.

Maruti internally knows what maximum can be offered, but their international marketing team did a great job in convincing Toyota that these cars will live forever.

Just kidding.

Re: Toyota Glanza, Urban Cruiser facelift to be launched this year

Just got a message from Toyota Sales team that Glanza has reached showroom. To me front of the car in given picture looks like 2010 Corolla Altis.

Re: Toyota Glanza, Urban Cruiser facelift to be launched this year

This time Toyota has been able to differentiate from Maruti well, at least superficially. What frustrates me though is blatant disregard of safety standards even by Toyota. For safety they write 6 airbags and blow it out of proportion, knowing well that the overall package is not enough for single point rating by GNCAP.

It is now. From July Global NCAP introduces new protocols where it would be impossible to score above three stars without curtain/head airbags as optional or even above two stars without ESC with a minimum sales volume. Without those the old Baleno would have been capped at two stars at the maximum and in all probability it would have been a zero like the Latin-market car because of a red chest in side impact.

We can't say how the new Baleno would perform in a side impact, but at least based on equipment alone it's unlikely to face issues (except lack of three-point belts, in child occupant protection) though physical performance is still a question mark. The rating will now be for the model range as a whole and not just the base variant, but optional equipment (curtain airbags, ESC) will only be considered for the additional tests (pole test, ESC) it sells in high enough volumes, though the front and side impacts which form the skeleton of the scoring will be done with basic safety equipment.

If Maruti has taken it up as a challenge to achieve a good rating they can achieve it. Side impact chest performance can improve even with minor changes like foam padding in the door or better seat structure. All Suzuki needs is to decide that not investing in development or saving that little cost per car (which becomes a lot when you sell as many units as they do) is not worth achieving a low NCAP rating because it's a marketing disaster.

That said, I would have liked it if Toyota had paid for a test on the new Glanza. They did it before with the Etios.

No, It's not the same unit as Baleno delta except DRL and LED lights,
Check the headlights of Baleno Delta and Glanza V:
Toyota Glanza, Urban Cruiser facelift to be launched this year-baleno-delta-vs-glanza-v.jpg
Baleno delta has a chrome line that extends above the indicator instead of DRL, and it has a position lamp just above the indicator and a different top chrome element.

Baleno Sigma / Delta and Glanza E / S have the same headlights:
Toyota Glanza, Urban Cruiser facelift to be launched this year-baleno-delta-vs-glanza-s.jpg

Baleno Alpha and Glanza V also have the same headlights but with different DRL setups:
Toyota Glanza, Urban Cruiser facelift to be launched this year-baleno-alpha-vs-glanza-v.jpg

Just like headlights, the taillights are also the same, except for different combination lamps:
Toyota Glanza, Urban Cruiser facelift to be launched this year-baleno-alpha-vs-glanza-v-tail-lights.jpg
IMO, Glanza's combination lamp looks better than Baleno's 3 block LED element.

Personally, I liked the design of Baleno's front end, which looks elegant and neat. Whereas, Glanza looks aggressive with some overdone elements.

New Baleno with aftermarket wheels:
