Re: Tata passenger vehicle range now available in Bhutan

There goes the Gross National Happiness of Bhutan tumbling down!

Either that, or Tata is going to dramatically life up its After-Sale-Service to improve the Gross National Happiness the world over!

Re: Tata passenger vehicle range now available in Bhutan

Prior to the the 1990's when the Indian automobile market was not liberalised for foreign brands, most of the car requirements for Nepal and to some extent Bhutan were met through Japanese car imports.

As Bhutan and Nepal are landlocked, Calcutta used to be the port of entry for these imports that would be quite a few times sighted with car dealers. These Calcutta car dealers would perhaps double up as the official clearing and forwarding agents for such cars. Hence, it would not be uncommon to sight a brand new Toyota Corolla or a Nissan Sunny at a dealer's showroom. These days many Indian brands are being marketed in these two countries as the technology used for Indian cars is almost at par. And in some cases if not at par, these are quite modern plus the importing, spares availability and service are also easier.

Hence, the dealer is now appointed by Tata Motors to market their newer range.

One such dealer was M/s French Motor Car Company located on Acharya Jagdish Chandra Bose Road (Lower Circular Road) - Sarat Bose Road crossing. They were dealers then for Tata commercial vehicles. An old black Rolls Royce Phantom II of the 1930's along with one or more Japanese imports used to be parked in their showroom.

Re: Tata passenger vehicle range now available in Bhutan

I just happened to dig deeper into this. I googled samden motors and I saw on their insta page that they've been selling/taking bookings for TATA cars since the past 2-3 years. Please see the below images. What I don't understand is why announce it now ?Tata passenger vehicle range now available in Bhutan-screenshot_2022012410265844_1c337646f29875672b5a61192b9010f9.jpg
