VW Vento Highline Plus MT & Comfortline variants discontinued

Volkswagen has discontinued the Highline Plus MT and Comfortline variants of the Vento. The mid-size sedan is now available in Highline MT, Highline AT and Highline Plus AT trims only, with prices starting at Rs. 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

Volkswagen had introduced the Vento Matte Edition last year. It comes with a matte finish exterior paint at prices starting at Rs. 13.37 lakh (ex-showroom).

The carmaker has trimmed the Vento line-up as it prepares to launch its replacement in the Indian market. As we all know, the Vento is being replaced by the Virtus. Based on the MQB-A0-IN platform, the new mid-size sedan will share its underpinnings with the Skoda Slavia.

The Virtus is expected to go on sale in May 2022. It is expected to be offered with 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbo petrol engines. In the Slavia, these engines are rated at 113 BHP / 175 Nm and 148 BHP / 250 Nm, respectively. A 6-speed manual transmission is offered as standard with both engines. The former gets a 6-speed automatic option, while a 7-speed DSG is available with the 1.5L engine.

Given that the people who buy a Vento now would expect to use it for at least 3-5 years they would be much better off buying the Highline variants.

The trendline and comfortline iterations of VW vehicles are seriously underequipped as compared to today's standards, so this is definitely a good move to end the production run with the Highline variants.

Did you mean to say "..has discontinued the Trendline MT and Comfortline variants"?

It is good that VW is atleast continuing production of the Vento and thus almost making up for the Rapid not being available.
