Exactly Adityapd !

We have had this discussion before in another thread (cant seem to find it though) and i 100% agree with you on what you said, and had stated something similar there.

cheers

Sachins contract with fiat expired in November 2003, which is why huge discounts of 1.5 lacs were available by Fiat on the S10 1.6 liter version. They HAD to offload their entire inventory before November

Audi and BMW do enjoy the same reputation as by a Mercedes in the European and American markets. But things are totally different in India. Here, for most, the Merc is the ultimate brand to have and also they are very well established here. Audi can be backed-up by Skoda, but BMW must begin from a scratch. The fact that BMWs are still the ultimate driving machines will not help much unless they provide a good backup as provided by the Merc.
AUDI OR BMW, DESPITE THEIR BRAND IMAGE, IS STILL NOT A MERCEDES (at least here!).

Hey guys,
We have forgotten one more manufacturer which has a very negligible presence in India. And its Volvo. Like Audi [i official dealer] and BMW [2 official dealers], Volvo has only 1 official dealer i.e Modi Motors in Delhi. Volvo's are considered to be the safest cars in the world. But still it has zero presence in India. The only cars that were imported by Modi were some [1 or 2] S80's [or S60's] in India.

Volvo is owned by Ford. I guess if Volvo is to enter the Indian market, Ford will back it up. Same is the case with Jaguar. Just like BMW and Audi, I believe neither of these marques will match Mercedes Benz in India.

Vishnu,

I dont think we can afford to pass judgements especially since your only view of him is from what you have heard from the media (and as we have seen earlier... we can trust the media...the media are our friends and are intellegent responsible and truthful.)

He is doing his bit dude!
There is a little saying in the Bible and it goes like this, " Your left hand must not know what your right hand is doing."
Like Aditya said here earlier, sachin is doing a lot for the downtrodden, maybe more and he deserves all credit for not making a big show out of it.
Atleast sachin asked for a duty waiver which he deserves in some measure. our political leaders and govt servants swindle money right from under our noses and on top of that the swines ask you for bribes.

I vote a No!

Atleast for the next 6 years until when Both have their plants setup here and are well established.

Once they are well setup i'm sure things will change but then thats something we'll talk once they are well set ... till then just say the holy words " H A I L M E R C E D E S "

... on a second note how about someone even adds Lexus to the poll??

Ya its gonna take a long time for BMW/Audi to set up plant in India. Lexus on the other hand has the potential to challenge the Mercs. But they will turn out to be much more expensive than the Mercs. And powerful too. Still worth the price.

V12,
Why would Lexus be more expensive then the merc??
Is it cuz they'd need to use the CBU route?
