The Jeep SUV (baby) will be co-developed in Italy and India. The intended markets are Europe and India.



Jeep's Fiat Pulse will be unveiled to the world later this year. Sales, however, are expected to start in early 2023, with the right to an electric version in 2024.

Jeep will use the same base as the Peugeot 208 and Citroën C3.

The Jeep 516 project has been touched by Stellantis' Italian and Indian engineering with a focus on Europe and India.

Therefore, it is quite likely that it is only four meters long, respecting the law of tax incentives for India.

The versatility of the CMP/STLA Small platform is that cars can be electric, hybrid, microhybrid or combustion. The Renegade mini must be equipped with electric motor of 136 hp and 26.5 kgfm of torque currently used by the Peugeot e-208 sold in Brazil.

Because it is a Jeep, it will have four-wheel drive in both electrical and combustion versions, even if you need to use an electric motor in the rear as an aid.

So this basically rules out the Renegade for the Indian market, given cross pricing. I had spoken to the SA while doing my Jeep Compass test drive recently and inquired as to why they did not introduce the Renegade, he responded with what made a lot of sense, said he along with others had visited the Jeep factory where they were shown the Renegade and the car was deemed too small, utilitarian not premium, 'quirky' overall and the final landing price would have been too much compared to the competition, they felt the market at that price range being more 'premium value conscious' would have resulted in the Renegade simply being uncompetitive. Not to mention potentially compete with itself on the lower Compass SKUs.
Also, Jeep would have gone with its now 'premium' pricing model and made things even more difficult for the Renegade to effectively compete in the 20-24L price bracket which he says the Renegade would have ended up in.
This new model given its right away sub 4m dimension seems to make sense at the 13-20L mini SUV market. Looking forward to it : )

The new price point makes me very, very interested. Thank the travel Gods they (Stellantis) didn't make the same 'premium' mistake they did with the Compass - the price point is a definite turn off. The days of 'phoren' maal being associated with premiums have long since passed imo.

I just drove from Hyderabad to Delhi and I passed (or was passed) by some Hexas, new XUV 500s and Scorpios on the road and I am mightily impressed!

To the point, a sub 15L 4WD/4x4 with 'bad road'/'no road' handling abilities with polished interiors will do well in today's market. I drive a 7.5 year old Punto Evo with ~ 1.3L on the odo and am really not happy with the choices out there.

It'll be interesting to see in which price bracket Jeep will position this baby suv as it sits below Renegade. My guess is somewhere between 10L to 15L given the Jeep branding. However, at that price point there are other bigger SUVs which will provide stiff competition. The C3 pricing might give us some clue.

Also eagerly awaiting the entry(ahem, re-entry) of Peugeot and Opel to Indian market as well. With scope for lots of platform and part sharing, we'll get to see a fresh wave of new car models and more competition.

While Fiat's SUV has been spied, we are yet to see the images of the 'Baby' Jeep!

Expect more details of the SUV's ( Fiat and Jeep) on March 01.

The doubts about the name of this model should finally be resolved next March 1 when finally the Stellantis group with the first industrial plan should reveal many details of its new models of its brands and first of all of Fiat.

Jeep EV, Dodge PHEV Reconfirmed In Updated Stellantis Product Roadmap.

What is interesting is, Jeep shows a EV which is speculated to be the long-rumored tiny crossover Stellantis is expected to build in Poland together with equivalent versions from Fiat and Alfa Romeo.

The latter has already confirmed a sub-Tonale model, likely to be called Brenerro. These won't be EV-only vehicles since they'll also be sold with combustion engines.

If so, launch could be in 2023.

Jeep puts sub-4m SUV plans on hold for India, but European plans are on track for a Junior Jeep.


The European and South American markets could see a junior Jeep below the Renegade. It’s the Indian market that is a huge challenge where the right cost versus capability balance is proving impossible to achieve.

Right now, we are not looking at making an entry into the sub 4 metre SUV. The car has to carry the Jeep DNA and we do not want to bring a Quasi-hatch styled car which does not live upto the expectations of Jeep customers. So the Renegade or any sub 4 metre SUV right now is off the table

Jeep does not rule out a smaller-than-Compass SUV in India. The current Renegade may have proved to be a difficult fit, but the next-generation car could be a far better proposition for our market.

It however could be a late entrant to the Mid SUV as all established players would be present in that space.

Though the BEV is currently ruled out for India, Brazil reports the ICE version of this SUV are India and Brazil bound.

However, low-cost markets such as India and Latin America (which may include Brazil) should receive the model in combustion version.

Renegade + Compass + 208:

Visually the mix between Renegade, Compass and even Peugeot 208 in the mini SUV is clear. The front is square with the same design of the set that encompasses headlights and grille of the Renegade, but without the round lenses, pulling to the side of the Compass. The bumper has a commander-like design, but more robust.

Straight hood and with adhesive to the center pulls to the Renegade, while the high waist line and ceiling with contrasting paint are pure Compass juice. At the rear, the design of the glass is identical to that of the average SUV, but without the chrome bead. Square x-lanterns are the best-selling SUV in Brazil, even if they have an additional one on the trunk cover.

Well-marked side lines of the wheel boxes and camouflaged rear handle try to give the model a proper appearance. Since looking from the front and back, it's the perfect mix between the two Jeep input SUVs. Already the rear view mirrors and front doorknob: surprise! They're from the Peugeot 208.

2023 Jeep EV:

Stellaris had mentioned earlier that all their new EVs based on their dedicated electric platform would get between 300 and 500 miles of electric range. A good-looking small affordable Jeep crossover with a 300 miles range could be a huge hit for them.

Compass is 4.4m long and almost 40L for the top-end.

There are three segments of crossovers below it -
Creta/ Taigun segment,
XUV 3OO/Nexon segment,
Kiger/Magnite/Punch segment.

Why do we want to write-off products with a single spyshot with no other information revealed?

I would have loved to see Jeep assemble and sell the Renegade https://www.jeep.com/renegade.htmlhere . Maybe 20% above top trim Thar.

But I dont think they can make it happen. India is still a market where small size=cheap and budget. Jeep does not have the deep pockets to make that work.
