BANGALORE | NEW DELHI: The used-car market is expected to see the foray of three global players in the coming months. Japan’s largest dealer of used cars and vehicles Gulliver International, UK-based Manheim and a Dubai-based operator are expected to set up local operations.

All the three players are in advanced stages of talks to rope in a local partner, sources said. Manheim started operations in China last year and is known for its wholesale auto auctions. The unnamed Dubai-based player is based out of Bangalore and is expected to announce its soft launch by the end of this month.

That's a good news. Already hyundai and maruti used car division has taken away sizable business from local vendors. let more professional companies get into this to make the used car purchases easier.

The used car business is here to stay and will increasingly impact the new vehicle market in a various ways. The importance of the used car market is growing significantly and this will re-define Indian used car market.

Yes, exciting ahead for car buyers. With cars becoming better in terms of technology, the second hand option is getting more attractive in terms of being able to purchase a bigger cars in the same budget and fulfilling your ambitions. Secondly, people are changing cars faster than ever before. Its about time more organised players entered the market.

Absolutely. So far, most of the organised players have been manufacturer / authorised dealership linked. It will be fantastic to have an independent organised segment which offers a high quality product. One of the main reasons why people opt against a used car is "peace of mind".

Very Very good news indeed. But hopefully they come to Calcutta too. Its hightime that we saw something more serious, transparent and less dubious than the pan-chewing, colloquial idiot that we are used to see in Calcutta in the name of used car dealers whose only interest and knowledge is to rob you off your money and nothing else (they wouldn't even sell a car after giving it a decent wash).

For ex, In the case of TrueValue, almost all the customers are pretty satisfied with their cars.

So, can these Global used-car majors provide the same level of satisfaction OR will they be in the same league of GM/Ford(in the case of A.S.S) ?
