According to a leaked document, Hyundai dealerships have been asked to halt bookings of select variants of the Creta and Venue.

Bookings for the Creta Diesel SX AT have been suspended. Similarly, sales of the Venue Petrol S(O) IMT, SX(O) IMT, SX(O) IMT Dual Tone as well as Venue Diesel SX(O) and SX(O) Dual Tone have been stopped.

As Hyundai is unable to deliver these variants, the company has advised dealers to suggest alternate variants to customers depending on available stocks / allocations.

The Creta is available with three engine options. The 1.5-litre diesel produces 113 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 250 Nm @ 1,500-2,750 rpm. It is available with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.

When it comes to Venue, customers get a choice of three engines. These include a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol producing 118 BHP and 172 Nm and a 1.4-litre diesel that makes 89 BHP and 220 Nm.

Is this due to the supply chain disruption / chip shortage that was to get better this year but hasn't?

My guess is for Creta, Hyundai would start offering automatics only in top end variants and may be in base/base+1 variants. It helps Hyundai to max out on the customer looking only for automatics. And of course, increase their margins too!

Seems like they are adding or deleting features in some models hence there is a pause in bookings for those particular models. Looks like after i20 they will do it in the venue also.

It could also be possibility of the facelift being launched soon.

Scenario 1 :The best explanation is they might be thinking of increasing the value proposition by adding some features(not that they have to considering the order book they have .But who wouldn't want to have a longer order book that the present one).

Scenario 2 : Limit the auto to only the top end and push SX AT customers to SX(O) AT.
