Hi All, I am a new member here and very glad to be part of this esteemed and diverse community.

It is good see that Toyota and Suzuki is closing the gaps in their portfolio with Creta – rivaling midsize SUV. Having hybrid in CSUV segment will add value to it as it provides best of ICE and BEV powertrains. I guess these two siblings would be a tough contenders for Korean and German engineered vehicles that are offered in the country in this segment. Excited for launch to know the features and price positioning!

Interesting products, no doubt, they are already generating enough buzz in the market. But, we all know Toyota - they charge a premium. So, my expectation is the mild-hybrid will be around 20L OTR and strong hybrid 25L OTR (Bangalore).
Will it affect Koreans/Germans: if Toyota and Suzuki manage to price this competitively, they can possibly give sleepless nights to competition, else, we all know what happened to Yaris.

You have a strong following in India with people waiting for original Toyota cars - it's HYtime to price sensibly. Any more HY-priced products and you may soon scream 'HYai-HYai'

Going by the brezza/ urban cruiser or the Baleno/ glanza analogy, I am expecting a similar slight premium in the Toyota pricing over the Maruti badged variant. I am still hopeful of a decent pricing as Maruti is a mass market aggressively priced brand.

This is on the premise that both brands come with strong and mild hybrid variants.

In case Toyota only has strong Hybrid, while Maruti comes with only mild hybrid, then Toyota could have out of reach pricing.

My hope/ intuition is that both brands should come with strong and mild hybrids, but let’s see. Prayers for the first scenario.

I see the Maruti variant (future) of hyryder mild hybrid as close to s-cross specs plus mild hybrid feature, which should justify another 1-1.5 lakh, and the strong hybrid to command a premium of no more than 3 lakhs.

Strong hybrid could be available only in top 1 or 2 variants, while mild in the rest.
Might be too basic an assumption, but please help improve this thinking if you feel otherwise.

The brochure available at the toyotabharat website appears to talk mainly about strong hybrid SHEV only, does not seem to be talking about mild hybrid. So if it is SHEV only, pricing should be premium.

Maybe this brochure is related to Camry/ vellfire only. Lets see.

But lot of news articles are talking about mild hybrid as well.

I am desperately hoping for same as well, but looking at the wording its unveil and not launch so very faint chances of that as even the production is not started.

Official start of production is in August IIRC, that’s when prices will be announced as well.

1st July event is only for the unveiling…

The success of this product really depends on the price positioning in the market. Not just relative to the Korean twins but also cars like MG ZS EV, Hyundai Kona EV, and the Tata Nexon EV. Customers who are leaning towards efficiency alone will not be willing to purchase a hybrid past 22-23 lacs when they can buy an EV for lesser (think Nexon EV and MG ZS EV lower trim).

A strong hybrid in a B-SUV/Crossover will be a segment first. This coupled with the AWD (which is not currently available in any other vehicle of this segment) will give them the edge over the competition. Plus, 1.5L engine & Toyota's brand value can promptly tear up the sales chart provided the pricing is aggressive. And, this time they have played it right by bringing on the more reputed Toyota badge first.

But again, aggressive pricing will largely depend on the extent of localisation they are able to achieve. If they are eyeing for fat margins, the current excitement around the Hyryder might fade away.

Regarding the engine noise at higher speeds when riding on ICE mode - a slightly higher NVH level is a typical trait of a 3 cylinder engine and shouldn't be a deal breaker. However, an unusually high pricing will set many prospective buyers thinking whether they should pay such a premium for more complex, less reliable systems such as AWD & hybrid system.

An acceptable premium for the strong hybrid and other segment-first features is welcome and Toyota surely has a HYriding product then.

I was reading the Honda city Hybrid official review, and the car doesn't have a gearbox. What kind of gearbox does this one have?

Can anybody point to technology video for the Toyoto strong hybrid thar explains the power generation and transmission mechanism?

That for sure is a Vitara underneath if the side profile screenshot was anything I could judge it with.

Also what does the "HyTime for the road less travelled" means? This looks more like a teaser for the All Wheel Drive system!!!
