If Suzuki's in-house hybrid with AGS / AMT (as seen in UK Suzuki Vitara) is coming to Indian shores, many people will be disappointed.. As per some media reports , Toyota strong hybrid CSUV was coming with eCVT.

I checked some drive reviews for UK vitara, real world mileage is 20 KMPL for mix of driving in city, highway and hills.

The AGS is not a part of the S Cross replacement. It will surely come with the 6 speed AT as in Ertiga. The hybrid versions will also possibly feature the e-CVT.

If Vitara comes with Suzuki developed Strong hybrid with AGS, it will be better to take with mild hybrid, than this strong Hybrid..
I have seen many videos, which clearly appreciates Toyota hybrid with e-cvt to be much better than Suzuki hybrid with AGS.

All the information till now suggests that the mild hybrid is from Suzuki while the strong hybrid is sourced from Toyota.

While driving back from Jhajjhar yesterday as I came down from the KMP Western Peripheral highway, I spotted the Suzuki test mule going back to the Suzuki Manesar R & D center about 5 KM from that point.

It seems it is based very much on the global Toyota Yaris Cross platform with a few India specific tweaks. The tires were Bridgestone 684 tread. But there may be other OE tires too.

Maruti Suzuki will take the wraps off its midsize SUV sometime in July.

- Maruti’s Creta rival be sold via Nexa outlets
- To get Suzuki’s K15C 1.5-litre petrol engine
- Will get strong hybrid and mild hybrid options

The midsize SUV twins will also come with strong or full hybrid set-up which will be sourced from Toyota.

Automatic gearbox choices will include a six-speed torque convertor for the mild-hybrid variants, while full-hybrid line-up is expected to get a CVT gearbox.

I checked with a dealer in Delhi and they have started taking booking in name of Innova for Rs. 51,000 and will later change to Hyryder once official bookings open.

Looks like this project is either an extended version Brezza( Toyota retains UC badge) or reskinned Scross with hybrid packaging. Initially had a thought like this car would be the cheapest Toyota hybrid tech car in the world, IIRC it's the Yaris right now. But recent scoops say other way that the car comes with only Suzuki tech. Also, as we know Toyota is very slow in reacting to a market or develop a product, this Toyota-Suzuki relationship is also quite new for a product development from scratch.
Nevertheless, if the car comes with an EV mode it would have been helpful, straight forward and involving for the users to save the fuel. 20Kmpl from a Suzuki 1.5L engine is nothing these days as seen in others Suzuki cars like Brezza, XL6 etc.
Wonder what would be the contribution from Toyota? may be the plant utilization and production this time.

It's not really an extended brezza but here we have toyota's stupid naming policy backfiring. I don't understand what kind of idiot would want to name a higher segment product after a sub 4 metre vehicle. It's the exact opposite of the case with land cruiser family. They have a flagship land cruiser and then a land cruiser prado below it. Here it's the other way around. It's only logical for the common people to think its an extended brezza when it's actually a heavily reworked vitara with Toyota tech.

Its probably how Toyota marketing works, they want the people and the market to have a familiarity with the product by using a popular or older nameplate. In this case they want to extend the Urban Cruiser family for future crossover products as they are in trend. Further they will also be extending the Innova family with Hycross.

Oh really..that bad!!!
I thought the K15C was tuned for mileage and hence why it is so uninspiring to drive. Looks like a double whammy now. Brezza will also be impacted then.
