Re: Mercedes, BMW, Audi & other luxury brand sales in 2022

While Tatas have been able to amp up the offerings and sales in the domestic market, the premium brother is going the other way in the sales department. Volvo has overtaken JLR in the Lux segment in back to back months. This time it is by a bigger margin.

Since JLR product profile has led to improved quality of Tata products, can we now send some of these free JLR chaps who are not doing sales to the Tata dealerships? Maybe they'll be able to improve the apathetic A.S.S.

Analysis of earlier month sales in my previous post here
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/india...ml#post5278128 (Mercedes, BMW, Audi & other luxury brand sales in 2022)

Still not sure what's cooking at JLR.

Porsche sold more cars than Audi's CBUs. Why the heck Audi India isn't sharing their CKD sales ? 60% of their lineup is CKD, while those CBU models cost more than 1 crore which are doing single digit sales. Looks like there is something wrong with FADA.

Is that so? I though Audi sold a total of 25 cars and was surprised at such a low number.
So if they are hiding their CKD numbers then I believe the numbers must be really low. I think about 100.

Re: Mercedes, BMW, Audi & other luxury brand sales in 2022

It's time now for Mercedes to finally hand over the throne to BMW. With such an obnoxious pricing of the C class, it's going to take a big hit. Time to wait for the May 22 sales figures now and get some popcorn.

Individual numbers of premium cars sold in India for FY2022

Source: ACI’s May 2022 Magazine

Mercedes-Benz E-Class and GLC numbers are truly impressive!!

BMW 3er numbers have been massively helped by the 3 Gran Limousine!

Adding BMW 5er and 6er figures together still isn’t close to what the E-Class did.

GLE and GLS numbers are a massive surprise to me as well.

X5, sells more than both X3 and X4 combined, shows people spending big figures often stretch their budgets to go for the larger and better car.

X7 sells almost as much as the X3!

Audi Q7’s position taken successfully by the GLS, RR Sport, LR Defender and few other models as well.

Audi E-Tron (Regular model + Sportback) comfortably beats Mercedes-Benz’s EQC, Jaguar’s I-Pace, BMW’s iX in terms Premium EV sales.

BMW’s X1 even though outdated, outsold the updated and improved Mercedes-Benz GLA.

Looks like MB has sold more cars than all other brands combined. Really? Doesn't look and sound real.

Incorrect statement. Audi is reporting only their CBU sales for some inane reason.

Is that only the A8 then?, if not which other vehicles fall under CBU only route for Audi?

Audi numbers look way too low. Is this CBU only? The numbers look too high for CBU's and too low for CKD's. It's hard to believe Porsche is consistently outselling Audi by 2-3x every month.

Any idea about Lexus numbers? For some reason haven’t seen those reported anywhere. On another thread I remember reading Lexus India is chasing sales numbers so would be interesting to know how they’re doing.

Yes the numbers as only CBU because Audi is too ashamed to reveal total numbers including CKD.

Porsche outselling Audi CBU is no surprise. The Macan is at a more accessible price point even though it’s a CBU. I think the cheapest CBU Audi probably is the Q8 that has a lot less appeal than the Macan.
_______________

One must also note that figures are looking much higher when compared to May 2021 as that was the peak of the second wave.

Re: Mercedes, BMW, Audi & other luxury brand sales in 2022

Posting after a very long time, feels good to be back!

I recently visited the Audi showroom in Kolkata as we're keenly considering the A4 (fantastic car but at the wrong price point, currently).
During the discussion, my SA claimed that Audi is considering stopping the usual "Audi" discounts on their range. Just wondering whether Audi can really match their last year's sales numbers or surpass them. Mr. Dhillon had expressed confidence about posting double-digit growth over last year.

https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/...w/88655604.cms

Now, given Audi's current predicament in India which is neither a performance brand nor an aspirational luxury brand, it is only considered a value luxury buy because of the mouth-watering (10L+ OTR) discounts. Wonder what will happen to their lofty sales plans if they were to act through this disastrous thought of stopping these discounts...
