What’s with Hyundai and their pendant for ugly front end designs with gawky grills? The new Venue looks absolutely rubbish if you ask me.

And it’s now become a trend with Hyundai. Even their most expensive car, the Hyundai Palisade is downright ugly.

I have 2 Hyundais at home, a 2018 pre-facelift Creta and a 2018 facelift Elite i20. I feel that these are cars are still understated ( I still prefer the pre-facelift elite i20) but the new age designs from Hyundai are just hideous. Aura, the new Creta, even the new i20 does not look great in some angles, the rear light section seems positioned a bit too low.

The only hope is the New Tucson which looks good, but trust Hyundai to screw that up again during some facelift.

I’m probably not buying a Hyundai ever again, if this is their approach to design and safety.

Hyundai Venue facelift leaks on official website

Hyundai is gearing up to launch the Venue facelift later this month. The car has already been listed on the brand’s official website. While the page contains a teaser video and digital renderings of the updated Venue, the thumbnail used is of the actual car.



The 2022 Venue gets a revised radiator grille with chrome inserts and a rectangular air dam with a skid plate. The car retains the split headlamp setup.

At the rear, the updated Venue gets new L-shaped LED tail lights with a light bar that stretches across the width of the car. The rear bumper has also been redesigned and incorporates a black insert with position lamps on either side. The crossover is expected to get a sunroof and dual-tone alloy wheels.

The updated Venue is likely to be offered with the same engine options as the current model. These include a 998cc turbo petrol with 118 BHP and 172 Nm, 1.2-litre petrol producing 82 BHP and 115 Nm and a 1.5-litre diesel that makes 99 BHP and 240 Nm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, 6-speed iMT and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.

They were quite useless anyway in the old Venue. Had very short throw and dismal spread.

Ugly gets uglier! Not sure what has happened to Hyundai design team. They are designing some really bad looking cars, at least for India. New Santro, Venue v1, Creta v2 are some of the examples. Kia on the other hand has some good looking cars.

I think this is a fabulous design - a more mature design resembling the elder palisade.
The front & rear really give it a butch look.
I’m a fan.

Am I the only one who thinks it looks quite good? The overall vibe of Venue was a modern small city roundabout car and this design accentuates that.

IMO, definitely better than the outgoing model and way better than the terrible looking competition of Nexon or XUV300; both of which seem overbuilt and don’t even follow one design language throughout the body.

Well, with nothing noticeably new added, Hyundai clearly failed to hold a candle against the upcoming Brezza! With Hyundai's this update, it is now almost written on the walls that Nexon and Brezza will be the top selling sub-4m SUVs for a few years at least and the unsafe Koreans have lost to the two safe Indian SUVs for sure! (Sonet lost a long time ago!)
