That sunroof assembly looks same like in Hyryder. does it mean it is based on the same platform(Suzuki?) If yes, then it will be too narrow as compared to current Innova interns of people carrying capabilities

re: Toyota Innova Hycross, now unveiled

The carnival and the Innova were, yes, were not peers. One was a RWD, BoF plain Jane but still a 6 seater , Diesel tourer. Comparatively affordable. The Carnival was a FWD, Monoque, feature rich (to a large degree) and a little next level priced product.
With these changes now they have started to look like peers, albeit when the next gen Carnival launches if they maintain the same price difference they will be in different leagues. Unless, the Innova is priced too loftily and the Carnival is laced with an aggressive pricing.
By the way, any idea on when the Carnival refresh is launching in India. They might still launch with the 2.2 D, that might makes some customers look at Kia.

re: Toyota Innova Hycross, now unveiled

I hope that Toyota will not dilute the Innova brand by offering a vehicle which is less than the present model in terms of engine power, vehicle dimensions, and features.

A proper six gear MT is long overdue .If wishes were horses....

The Innova Hycross positioning is still a suspect. Whether it is below or above or at par with the current Innova positioning.
The Innova and Carnival just happened to be competitors in our market. Both are way different. The Innova was designed with the developing parts of Asia in mind, while the Carnival was designed with the North American and other developed markets in mind. Both different approaches. The real competition of the Carnival is with the Toyota Sienna/ Honda Odyssey and Chrysler minivans. Maybe the reason why Kia is hesitant to bring in the latest generation Carnival, since it wouldn't be cost effective. Are they waiting for BS6.2 to make a final call?

They did have the 6 M/T on offer for a short period of time in the Touring variant. Really hope they are forced to bring the 6 M/T when BS6.2 is introduced.

If the Hycross is actually the project 560B that's going to be shared with Maruti, then this is in all probability going to be positioned below Crysta. Because something as expensive as a Crysta itself just doesn't make sense with a Maruti badge. For a model priced above Crysta, this rebadging is practically a joke.

When the rumours were that the MPV would be based on the DNGA platofrm, that was a sure thing. But since it is now rumoured to be based on the TNGA-C platofrm, the positioning is confusing. Though as you said, with a Maruti rebadge, not expecting this to cost more than the current Innova. (Then again, we are living in the age of 7 lakhs Alto, 10 lakhs Swift and 17 lakhs Brezza. 25 lakhs full size Maruti MPV isn't hard to fathom)

Truly agreed! In today's age, no one would buy a 25-30 lakh rupee Maruti simply because people haven't been used to seeing Maruti in a premium price range.

That said, I definitely expect the Hycross to be atleast on the same level as the Crysta!
The thing is, Maruti might be planning to use this Innova Hycross as a stop-gap arrangement so that when they finally launch their upcoming 7-seater SUV and the Toyota 40PL based EVs in 2024-25, people won't get awkward seeing a Maruti in that price range (unlike past and present) and their purchasing decisions won't be influenced by that badge!

re: Toyota Innova Hycross, now unveiled

Toyota will offer the New Innova Hycross with ADAS.

Quote:
Toyota will unveil the new Innova Hycross in November.

Its ADAS suite will include lane departure warning, lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control.

To also get a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, and a larger touchscreen unit.

It will be powered by a 2-litre petrol engine in both strong-hybrid and non-hybrid guises.

Expected to go on sale in India with a starting price of Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
Quote:
Apart from ADAS, the new Innova Hycross will also get up to seven airbags, vehicle stability control (VSC), front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera.
Quote:
Since it will be positioned above the Hyryder in Toyota’s India lineup, the MPV will likely borrow many features from the compact SUV including ventilated front seats, a larger touchscreen system (compared to the Innova Crysta), wireless phone charging, and a head-up display. Latest developments have also confirmed that the MPV will come with a sunroof for the first time (a panoramic unit).

re: Toyota Innova Hycross, now unveiled

Awesome, 2.0 hybrid is a better unit, with almost double the kwh of 1.5 hybrid, and with ~190 horses should be good to drive.

The question is will this be a 3 row SUV/MPV or a 2 row SUV/MPV? If yes what its gonna be? Highlander/Kluger based? Or Corolla Cross based? Or stretched Corolla Cross?

Will this be shared with Maruti? If yes, I see no problem will be good for the consumer.

The 2.0l hybrid in the Corolla does 0-100 in below 8 secs and has a claimed mileage of 23+km/l. Would be pretty good for an MPV too.

Three row MPV. Based on the TNGA-C platform (Corolla, Corolla Cross, Noah, Voxy, Prius)

The design language would be like a smaller version of the Highlander and Sienna. Basically would be a decontented developing world counterpart of the Noah/ Voxy.
