For same reasons as that of HYryder. mild hybrid is nothing but regular petrol.

From whatever information I have tried to collect from the dealerships, I am getting a feeling that new HY and old Innova Crysta are going to be available

Well. The Hyryder has a normal ICE version.

Earlier reports have said that both the 2.0l ICE and hybrid engines would be made in India. Also they would want to have an attractive entry price point.

And most likely the petrol Innova Crysta maybe phased out with the diesel still being sold.

re: Toyota Innova Hycross, now unveiled

Few more updates based on my discussion with the Toyota SA
1. Diesel would (might) be relaunched in the middle of next year only for the commercial yellow board segment
2. For the Hycross, test drive start in Jan
3. Deliveries in end February or early March

re: Toyota Innova Hycross, now unveiled

So ADAS is confirmed for India as well, looking at the radar icon on the top left of the digital speedometer.

But the colour combination of the digital screen and analog dials for the remaining parameters makes the entire console look so cheap!

The Corolla Cross has the same instrument cluster but everything is in blue colour which looks much better!

Would have any day preferred analog dials like the Camry had over this…

Even though the design language is staying more conservative, this is the biggest change Innova will see since 2005. (fwd+monocoque+hybrid).

A couple in the advertisement? Does not look anywhere near the dimensions of the Innova.

Here are some from past generations.

Somebody must have seen the Innova shooting for the ad for sure around Golf Course Road. The pictures might start rolling in anytime.

re: Toyota Innova Hycross, now unveiled

I still think, considering this will have a Maruti sibling and combined economy of scale, this should be priced between 19L-25L Ex-showroom. Because Maruti very well knows people would think twice in putting 30L on a Maruti car, no matter what tech or offerings they provide, India consumers are still brand conscious. They might have branded Nexa as premium products outlet, products still share parts with Arena offerings making it similar quality products with same sub-par engines, also considering Koreans are offering way better products for similar price points. So there is no way Toyota will charge extra high premium over Maruti sibling as it will essentially eat up their share. If Toyota can price top strong hybrid model < Rs 25L ex-showroom, this might get blockbuster bookings, considering this would be the only 7 seater segment car with strong hybrid, which puts them on par with XUV 700, MG hector and Safari. Plus for marketing, 2.0 liter engine markets better comparison with competitors, as half our country can't distinguish between turbo and non-turbo engines and all they look is the engine capacity and thinks they are same. If they put better 3rd row spacing (fingers crossed), this would ring cash registers for next year and half, considering we don't have new gen vehicle launching anytime soon in this segment. Also for some reason, with every new vehicle launch the avg price of a 7 seater SUV/MUV is shooting up. Hope Toyota springs a surprise with pricing and also hope booking amount is capped at Rs 25K or less with full refund incase of cancellation, as price point will be very crucial.

Height adjustable seatbelts.
ADAS with lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control.
Hill hold (electric parking brake?)
Paddle shifters
3rd row seats only two? Though not sure if we can see the provision for centre headrest and seatbelt mechanism from the roof.

First glance this reminded me of the 1st gen Innova, Fortuner instrument cluster. Naively thought this would get analogue dials in the normal/lower variants and the awesome digital ones like the Tundra/Highlander/Lexus type in the higher variants. Well, at the end of the day all TNGA-C platform based vehicles have this kind of half digital display.

On the other hand, this makes me think the vehicle would be priced properly.

Typical Toyota strategy to minimise shock to their loyal customers.

Dunno how they keep doing this. Just one day from the unveil and we are yet to get even a proper scoop glimpse inside the interiors. Compare this to something like Mahindras recent launches. Atleast the interior layout was seen a year before the launch.

re: Toyota Innova Hycross, now unveiled

This is a Toyota car, built on Toyota TNGA and has Toyota 2L engine and Toyota hybrid technology. I am repeating the word Toyota just to drive home this point that there is no Suzuki in the picture. So even if Maruti ends up launching this, they may not be able to price it cheaper than Toyota ( royalties)

Will Maruti still launch ? Perhaps the only reason would because of their pan India touch points.

Hope Toyota prices this well.
