re: Toyota Innova Hycross, now unveiled

Just one(?) month from unveiling and all we have are motion shots?

Compared to say, a Mahindra, where we have full interior videos even an year before the official launch.

So it has rear disc brakes. And the unimaginative lazy tablet stuck on dashboard design. Pray it borrows interior design philosophy from its Noah/Voxy brethren instead of the Corolla/ Corolla Cross.

Looks like someone stuck an aftermarket tablet on the dash with double-sided tape (Jokes aside, could it just be part of the testing equipment). Its popping over the dashboard by quite a bit - could create visibility issues by blocking the driver view.

On the good side, tablet looks decent-sized.

Also, looks very roomy beyond the 2nd row - how that space is distributed between the 3rd row and the boot will need to be seen - but should beat most of its competition hollow in that area.

Toyota has world class efficiency when it comes to getting rid of current inventory with zero discounts and wastage. Bmw or Audi would be offering lakhs worth of discount in order to get rid of their current inventory before the new generation arrives. Toyota just instructs their dealers to stick an anniversary / gr sport / legender badge and some accessories made by third party companies tied up with toyota along with a sticker job and there will be a lot of gullible people willing to throw even more money at them just to get something that makes them feel special. The margin on these products are insane.

This works mainly because:

1. Toyota's reliable customer base who always see it as the most sensible option

2. Toyota is very secretive about their plans to launch a complete generation change. You never know they are coming out with a new model at all until maybe 2 months before the launch. Compare that to other companies who spend a lot of time building up hype which also reduces the demand for their current offerings.

I find toyota's cars boring and outdated but I could do a case study on how brilliant their business model is.

re: Toyota Innova Hycross, now unveiled

Based on the scoop photos, my assumption is that the Innova HyCross will carry a traditional Toyota-esque design.

Points posted below are just my expectation. No intention to provide any misinformation, keeping in mind the sanctity and rules of the forum discussion.

Floating infotainment units are so common these days. Other innova- based novelties like good seating , space and utilities should be present.

The only concern would be the seating options , especially the third row. While one may feel that the size is of MPV level, considering this would be a Hybrid. I'm quite sure that majority focus would be with accommodation of battery pack at rear. So I'm expecting a possibility that the Innova Hycross would mostly be a 6 seater, the last row seating having a slightly low floor.

If Innova Hycross were to be offered in 7 seater configuration , I guess the middle row would mostly get the 60:40 type three seat option.

As for the boot, the capacity might be reduced (Referring to Hyryder/ Grand vitara forums).

Overall, expecting the MPV to perform better like the Innova Crysta in Indian market.

Mods , feel free to let me know in case of irrelevant information/ grammatical errors. I am trying to be as careful with words and also errors when drafting.

Can't really compare the too. Ofcourse, the hybrid versions will have some space sacrificed compared to the normal version. But, this is a proper Toyota. Rumoured to be based on the TNGA-C platform, this would be probably already designed to be a strong hybrid in the first place. Unlike the Hyryder, which is a Suzuki vehicle that just happened to have the Toyota hybrid system shoehorned into it.

Found this test mule few minutes back on the Bannerghatta Road, Bangalore. Could this be Hycross? Definitely a 7 seater. Sorry, could not take any video or better angle picture. Interestingly it had two exhaust tail pipes.

I have spotted this car many times near my place on Bannerghatta Road. Personally I felt this doesn't have the road presence of the Crysta. The camo might have a role to play for this.
The car accelerated quite well from standstill, a hallmark of hybrid engine. Should be an interesting launch.

Looks different. Rear view mirrors, running board, camouflage pattern, rear hatch, 2 exhausts - many differences from the video posted before.

Innova HyCross spied on test again.

Looks imposing from the front, gets sequential indicators at the front which act as DRLs as well below the headlights, similar to the Legender and rear sunshades which are completely new for an Innova.

Masculine SUVish front look. Rear too looks good. Only from side it feels like an MPV. Thanks for sharing. New Innova hybrid scoops are very rare. Looking forward to Innova Hycross launch.

Is there any chance Toyota would suprise with introductory price of <= 20 lakh ex showroom price for Strong Hybrid?

I would love to be proved wrong! But I can already see them Toyota dealers smacking their lips in anticipation of a high volume, high margin product. From the looks of it, this is highly unlikely to be priced under 20 lakhs.

Expect this to be priced bang in-between the Innova Crysta and Fortuner, with the top-end variant being very close to the Fortuner in terms of pricing (considering the tech it will have and Toyota’s premium for the same).
