Re: Toyota Innova Hycross, now unveiled

I have booked ZX with Nandi Toyota. The SA said the variant and color will be re-confirmed later, after the price reveal, without affecting the queue. They are expecting to organize the test drive around middle of this month.

This is the dealer training vehicle. The rear radar system has been marked for cross traffic and blind spot assist.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross, now unveiled

I was watching the Indonesian of a detailed comparison of the Innova Hycross & Innova Crysta.

Key Takeaways (with no language understanding):

1. The Hycross indeed looked much more urban SUV.

2. The White Innova Zenix/Hycross looked great with the Modellista detailing with black claddings & black tinted windows in that market, significantly better than what the Indian version would get with overabundance of shiny chrome everywhere.

3. The Hycross could climb the hill slopes as effortlessly as the Crysta with at least 4-5 passengers with some luggage.

4. The Hycross 0-100 was achieved in 11 seconds, versus Crysta at 15 seconds.

5. The Hycross mileage was 15.2 km/l versus Crysta at 11.2 km/l

All Indonesian reviews point to the hybrid having far better fuel efficiency than the diesel Crysta.
Toyota hybrids have earned a reputation for stellar reliability and longevity. Even battery life.

As long as Toyota does not go overboard with pricing, the hybrid will be the death kneel for the ubiquitous Toyota diesel.

Sir - For Toyota's fault why penalise our kith and kin? A 6 airbag version is safer than a 2 airbag one, especially in such a big people mover. Have you seen such child seat installations? Does it work for you? I am not saying it is the perfect answer but it could be a good tradeoff without compromising on safety. There are lots of videos in youtube for xl6 / carnival/ carens child seat.

Test drives around middle of this month? Wow Great. Was expecting things to pick up pace only in January 2023

Nice to know. I am all in for anything that alerts me by looking at places i cant see (rear / fog / corner etc) but i dont want the vehicle to stop as long as i am holding the steering. Yeah if the driver faints or something like that happens let the car take that step.

Just switch on the captions. It is roughly translated, but you can get an overall understanding of what they say.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross, now unveiled

This looks like another winner from Toyota, so called experts will keep espousing Meridian, and may be some other new kid on the block and find fault with its ride, handling, interiors but this will not sell less than 2500 per months, fattening the profits of Toyota. Like the fortuner few years back when the experts were going ga ga over Endeavour, even Gloster. None ever sold more than few hundred, despite their so called fantastic ride and drivability. Truth is Toyota makes fantastic cars with nearly eternal life and market is in love with its bigger products. And it will keep ruling the segment of 30-55 lakhs for some time to come.

The new HyCross with the Qualis:

The HyCross with the first gen 2005 Innova:

The HyCross with the Crysta:

The MID mileage reading is showing 14.1 - 14.3 kmpl. Of course tank-to-tank is a better way of calculating mileage. But 14 kmpl in a MPV is a big thing, that too a Petrol one!!

This! The amount of chrome garnish on the ZX & ZX(O) is really an eye sore.

I am hoping 3M wrap on these bits will be able to come to rescue although not sure if it's advisable to use tape on the radiator grill.

My SA from Nandi keeps parroting that test drives won't begin before Janurary, in fact he says the price list will be available only in mid December.

These pictures reveal one aesthetic aspect I no not like about the Hycross - how far the outer body is projecting out comparted to the wheel track. I guess Totoya had no choice in this as the platform made for a Corolla had to be stretched for the Hycross. Front-to-back stretching is easy as wheel base can be altered, but lateral stretching may be more difficult to do elegantly as the track may be limited in variability. The Crysta manages to look better on this aspect as it is based on the much larger Hilux platform. In the Hycross, although in every other way the car looks elegant, this part does not look good at all in my opinion. I always like cars where the outer edge of the tyre is almost flush to the body, it gives a more balanced and stable look as compared to this. If you go back to the early Indian SUVs like the Tata Sumo and Mahindra Bolero, these had their bodies projecting out as well, to make more interior room and looked bus-like.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross, now unveiled

Got to see the car yesterday at a mall display in Gurgaon.
Overall there is a lot of improvement and it looks fantastic, I just noticed 2 negative points

1. The rear captain seat even when pushed all the way back does not let you stretch your legs fully. The battery pack is located below the front seats which does not allow you to tuck your feet below the seat. I am 5'11 and faced this issue. Also the ottoman can be fully utilized by a short person only

2. When the thrid row is folded flat, the Travel of the second row becomes limited and it cant be pushed back fully (Didnt expect this packaging issue in this car)
