Features of variants being circulated in Indonesia:

The differences in Toyota Innova Hybrid G, V and Q variants:

- All New Toyota Innova Hybrid G (~ INR 22.1 - 24.2 lakhs)

For the G variant, it is explained that it will have 2 prices, for the gasoline variant or All New Toyota Innova Bensin 2.0 L, it will be released for IDR 415 million, while for the hybrid variant it will be released at IDR 455 million. This variant is explained to have engine start stop features, 9-inch Audio, LED headlights, and 16-inch alloy wheels.

- All New Toyota Innova Hybrid V (~ INR 25.3 - 29.8 lakhs)

For the V variant, like the G variant, Toyota will also offer 2 prices. Namely for the All New Toyota Innova Bensin 2.0 L IDR 475,000,000, and for the 2.0 L hybrid variant, it is IDR 560 million. But both will be equipped with panoramic sunroof features, 10-inch audio, a new speedometer, and 17-inch alloy wheels.

- All new Toyota Innova Hybrid Q (~ INR 33.3 lakhs)

As for the All New Toyota Innova Hybrid Q option, it is said that it only has a hybrid variant, with a price of Rp. 625 million. However, it is certain that this variant will be much more complete than the All New Toyota Innova Hybrid G or V variant.

All New Toyota Innova Q 2.0 L hybrid will feature Bodykit Modellitas, LED Fog lights, LED Turning Lights, Electric 2nd Rw Captain Seat, Power Backdoor, Voice Command.

Visited a Toyota dealership to test drive the Hyryder. The Sales Rep told me that the Hybrid Innova will be unveiled at the end of this year and launch will happen either Jan/Feb 2023. He said it will be longer and wider than the Crysta but height will be less due to the Monocoque chassis. He said prices for the top end might exceed 30L ex showroom. This is all the info they have received so far.

I was watching a fully loaded Kia Carnival on my recent highway drive. The car was lowered so much on the road that, I felt its rear was nearly touching the ground. Similarly loaded Innova Crystas were much better in managing loads.

I don't have confidence in monocoque chassis 7 seaters with huge wheelbase and kerb weight. In our roads with huge potholes and adulations these cars don't inspire confidence as the ladder frame chassis vehicles.

True. The Kia Carnival or something like the Skoda Kodiaq go into a low rider mode with full pax and luggage, that they almost look like large stationwagons.

Reviewers can say what they want about body on frame or how that monocoque is a far better ride, but with a full load (passengers+luggage) and maintaining 80+km/h on our Indian highways (undulating), nothing can beat the present Innova.

I thought the same till a year back, but now I most welcome Toyota’s decision to bring a monocoque Innova. I had an Innova for nine years till 2021 and now fir the past year am driving the carnival.

Recently drove the Carnival till the Zoji-la with six people on board with luggage for a week long holiday. We were on a road trip to Kashmir and the decision to drive to Zoji la was taken on the spot. How many times did i scrape the car? Zero times. How would i rate the combination of ride, handling and comfort over the Innova? A distinct couple of notches higher.

In terms of handling our roads, We generally tend to underestimate the capability of the car and overestimate the capability of the one driving the car.

The below pics show the luggage we carried in addition to 6 people over a week in Kashmir. The second pic shows the condition of the underbody after 24 k kms on indian roads that includes a trip to Spiti and Kashmir. The tear you see is of the cardboard type material used to protect some pipes.

Is it just me or does anyone else also think that an MG badge would not look out of place on this car?

On the pricing, if Toyota is going to offer the 2l petrol in this, there is no way that it will be priced under 20 or even 25 L ex-showroom.

If they do price it in such a way that the mid variant is within 30L OTR Bangalore, this may very well be the next 10 year car for my retired dad (hope to post a thread soon, asking for advice on this ).
