Toyota Innova Hycross, now unveiled

After sighting Thailand, now the New Gen Innova (?) is spotted In India.

Spotted in Bengaluru, it is expected to have the Hybrid(THS) configuration.

Quote:
Rumour has it that the Japanese carmaker has chosen the TNGA-B platform to make the new Innova and that would result in the car becoming a front-wheel drive model unlike its predecessors.

The new generation model of the premium MPV is expected to make its global debut later this year. It is speculated to be underpinned by the current Crysta’s IMV architecture
Quote:
The car rides on alloys that are brand new and these are the same rims that the development mule of the 2023 Innova which was spotted in Thailand was seen rolling on as well.

At the back, the recently spotted 2023 Toyota Innova had a large windscreen, roof spoiler, split tail lights without vertical elements and a large boot lid that is more squarish than the current model’s tailgate.

Even the rear bumper is new and thus it is very likely that the 2023 Innova will look very different to the current Crysta at the front, by sporting a new radiator grille, bumper and lights.

Heavily camouflaged; The rear quarter glass/3rd row glass looks smaller than the 1st gen and the outgoing model. I hope it's able to live upto the expectations/Innova standards. I remember reading somewhere that this one will get a hybrid option. I really hope they don't make it a FWD.

This seems to be the Toyota Avanza / Veloz, not the next gen Innova. See the D-pillar. Could be the Maruti-Toyota 7-seater MPV that may come below Innova. And I don't think they are going to introduce the next gen Innova soon with this much changes to the body structure.

The A-B-C pillars are exactly same like the current Crysta and the 1st gen Innova. Only the D-Pillar window is different. The tailgate also resembles the Crysta’s with the only change being the taillights.

I have a strong feeling that the current gen Crysta and Hybrid Innova will be sold alongside each other.

Reason being the Hybrid motor will make the Innova more expensive, making it slot in between the Crysta and Fortuner in terms of pricing. Crysta’s top end is 31L OTR and Fortuner Diesel 4X2 MT is 42L OTR. That’s a perfect place to slot in the Hybrid Innova.

Current Crysta will become the new Innova. New Crysta will become the current Fortuner and current Fortuner will become the new Lexus ( all price wise of course) .With Toyota everything is possible. They have already started the preparatory work by raising the prices of current lot. Innova Crysta is getting 80K -125K hike from April. Fortuner by around 2-3L.

This thing will easily touch 40L OTR in Bangalore

Motorbeam as usual has mixed up the info, even though the scoop pics are

They are saying it will be on the IMV platform, and yet again saying it is maybe on the TNGA-B platform. The TNGA-B is too small to have an Ertiga size vehicle, let alone as an Innova replacement.

Nope. Too much of difference from the Avanza/Veloz. Check the ORVM, rear light design and overall size too, though at first glance this looks like the new Avanza.

Wished they straightaway launched the new Voxy/Noah here instead. Budget Vellfire anyone?

After further analysis, this one doesn't seem to be Avanza / Veloz.

1. Avanza doesn't have a quarter glass on C-pillar, while this one has.
2. Avanza has a roundish fuel lid, this one has a squarish one.
3. Avanza rear glass is curved at the bottom, while this is straight.

The platform is shared between Innova, Fortuner and Hilux. Toyota will have to consider the entire line - I think changes will be incremental rather than radical. I doubt we will see a front wheel drive vehicle in 2023.

re: Toyota Innova Hycross, now unveiled

Speculated by some, this could be the MPV multipurpose vehicle (codenamed 560B) being developed by Toyota-Suzuki.

- Toyota had confirmed its plans of introducing a C-segment MPV back in 2019.

- Will be shared with Suzuki as well.

- Dimension-wise will be similar to the Kia Carens.

- To feature a petrol-hybrid powertrain.

- To arrive in India sometime in 2023.

Quote:
sources suggest that it will be designed and developed by Toyota and will be produced in its plant in Bengaluru for both Toyota and Maruti Suzuki. We can also report with affirmity that the new Toyota MPV will feature a petrol powertrain with a strong hybrid option on the cards too. The carmaker recently confirmed its plans to launch more affordable strong hybrid models in India.
Quote:
It could be priced from Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards. The Toyota-Suzuki MPVs will primarily take on the Kia Carens

As far as I know, the new Innova has a Sun Roof among many other features that are being added on. It is slated for end 2022 - early 2023 release. Although it is likely to be shared with Suzuki as well, the vehicle is larger than the Carens and would come with the Strong Hybrid set up similar to Creta Challenger albeit mated to a more powerful engine.

Any idea on which platform the MPV is based on?

Also is it going to be an Innova replacement or in typical Toyota strategy they are going to split the Innova brand into two? One smaller hybrid, the other on the IMV platform.

Innova is of length 4700+mm, Ertiga is around 4350+mm, and Carens is 4500+mm. So, an ideal vehicle for both Toyota and Suzuki to place in between Ertiga and Innova and at the same time to compete with Carens, is one new vehicle with around 4500+mm. An Avanza which is 4100+mm can't be the vehicle here, but a stretched Avanza with similar styling cues and around 4500mm length can be the best fit.

No way this is going to replace Innova, IMO. May be, a new Qualis?

As per a rumour, this may replace XL6. With 6 and 7-seater configurations, it can be an XL-X. From Suzuki-Toyota point of view, there is no point in 3 cars (XL-6 and these twins) competing at the same price point.

re: Toyota Innova Hycross, now unveiled

I hope they are able to take on the Carinval with the new Innova. Second row captain seats to become bigger with calf support is vital for this.

While the Innova Crysta is great and outsells the Carnival due to its slightly more manageable size and price, the Carnival Limo does feel a segment above.

Toyota needs a MPV between the Crysta and Vellfire. If significantly better than the current Crysta, it can build a category that Kia couldn’t. Even if toyota keeps it’s loopy pricing.
