Give M&M a break!

is there no satisfying the indian consumer? now we're complaining because the price has been reduced?

a price cut is always welcome. its upto the people who are buying the cars to decide whether the new products are VFM or not.

we should not be badmouthing a very successful product that is being offered even cheaper than before without even knowing where the price cuts are happening.

and please dont turn it into a safari vs scorpio thread

Mahindra had launched a version of Scorpio the 2.5 litre turbo charged DI engine that is doing duty in the Bolero. This version is called the Scorpio M2DI. It has been a favourite with taxi operators and the price is around 7.10
on road(AP). My friend got one recently and it is returning 13.5 kmpl with AC and full compliment of passengers (It is a nine seater) even before it clocked 5000 km.

The M2Di has been launched years ago. We were considering getting one but then dropped the idea and bought a base version 2.6

@anshuman

did they tell you the delivery timeframes for these 2 variants? A friend is interested and he is being told 2 months waiting time. We just want to make sure its not dealer-speak as dealer is pushing 2.6 variants to clear off his inventory.

I am interested in VLS and the dealer is saying 10 days,2 months waiting is only on SLX 4X4.

Rightly said. The engine '2.2' is not such a path breaking one to charge such a premium...

50k premium for ABS and 2.2 engine is not too much (SLX vs VLS).

SLX- 8.65lakhs
VLS 2.2 ABS-9.15lakhs

both prices ex showroom

Well... Indeed its is not expensive if you compare with the VLX. I was commenting on this 2.2 litre variants' price range. Too high IMHO... The luxury of rudiment competition!

actually, I heard it is.
its silent, refined develops loads of torque from the low end with imperceptible turbo lag, is decently frugal.

and is capable of developing much more than the current output, reliably.
160bhp+ is the number thats being quoted! and its available under 10 lakhs.
if only I had 10lakhs to spare

PS-i suppose its quite obvious that I'm completely gaga over that engine.

M-Hawk without all those tech craps (cruise control, light & rain sensors.etc..) with ABS will be a good deal for 9 lakhs.

Another 32k for Petes & 38K for Bilsteins... ???

Went to enquire at dealership GMS, Mumbai about Mahindra 2.2 VLs.

They have no clue as to the new variants further price revision upwards of Rs.30000 across variants are expected.

Clarification...

SLE does not use 2.2 mHawk engine. it uses the old 2.6 engine. Comes with body colored cladding.
