don know the reason but it does look cool though..
I believe the blackened A and B pillar is to give the car what they call a 'floating roof' effect. If you look at the side profile of the car with the A and B pillars blackened, it appears like the roof is not supported from the front or mid portion, but is extending from the back. Hence the name ' floating'.

I recently got the C pillar also stickered but it is not 100% to my satisfaction. The quality of the sticker and job is good but feels incomplete from close angles.

Will post pics.

I want to strip the A/B/C pillars and get it stickered with a glossy finish. Will lacquering help?

Manikjeet, Where have you seen this info? The last thread I read about the m-series engine in the swift was speculative.

As per my understanding, sunfilms upto 50% reduction in light are acceptable by Traffic police in BLR, Correct me if I am wrong

When the traffic police set the guidelines for the 50%(minimum) visibility, the RTO (almost after a month) shot back and said that the traffic police had no business deciding what was legal or not. If the RTO is to be believed, they are the sole authority to decide on what is legal or illegal on the car.

A friend of mine got it done at his number-plate guy on JC road I think.

If you goto any big Sticker/Numberplate guy they can do it for you. It cost around 250-300Rs I guess.

JC.Road / Frazer Town / Bamboo Bazaar has scores of these shops. Nowadays theres a lot of them in every area thanks to the numerous taxi's (Sony Xplode/Ferrari stickering)

Glossy vinyl would be nice. The Japanese and European Swifts come with glossy black A-pillars. I guess this was yet another cost saving measure by Maruti.

Thats what I was mentioning earlier in this thread... regarding a GLOSSY finish.

Till such time I find the right material and right guy to do a 110% job Im not going to mess with the OE Maruti stickers.

Sandeep, there is a car accessories shop diagonally opposite to sagar apollo hospital in Jayanagar. They will do it for you. I did it for my zen. And I recommend this shop only to get your pillars black not anything else. You can see many taxis getting their pillars done so he is good at it!
