It's time for the first free service for my Swift.
Some questions
1) Is it better to visit the same dealer from whom I purchased the
car or should I just go to any Maruti Dealer which is convinient?
2) How much in advance would I need to take an appointment - for
a weekday service & and for a weekend service?
3) How much time do they keep the car once I drop it off?
4) Should I stay there & watch? Do they allow it?
Is it better if I do this?

Any other advice?

Its just a service why are you so worried?

answers to your questions-
1.No it does not matter where you get it serviced as far as its authorised maruti service center, its better to head for bigger MASS because chances of parts which fail rarely might be more easily available.
2.The earlier you take the appointment its better.
3.depends on the capicity and what time you give the car for service.
4.Normally they do not allow to watch your car being serviced but you can stay there but the better idea is to utiise the time somwhere else.

From personal experieince:

1. Does not matter. Better to use a trusted / recommended MASS than the dealer who sold you the car. (I use Surakshaa in Bangalore). If you do not know of a recommended guy then you can always go to the dealer. Ask around.
2. Generally 1-2 days advance notice should suffice. Find out from them when their load is lighter. (Load is usually highest on mondays and saturdays.) The advantages are - they'll be in a better position to guarantee turnaround time and they may pay more attention to your vehicle
3. As anshuman said - depends very much on the garage and the load on the day you give your car (see point 2)
4. The MASS I use allows this and I usually keep a close eye on goings on. That said, First service really isnt a lot of work. Oil change is the main thing, so you dont have to hang around there if you dont want.

OT - I have recently moved to Bangalore and am not too sure of where to get my car serviced. Can Maruti owners from Bangalore please suggest a good MASS?

TIA
