That's a DRL Strip in 3 segments !!

And for me the current design is a looker !! IMO the design has a GenZ appeal to me , the sharp edge's on side profile, coupe - c pillar and a sheer length of ~ 4.6M has the potential to dethrone City and revive the segment again .

And what I hear is that this time Hyundai did work on the rear seat comfort which was an issue in the previous 2 generations !!

The new design would surely appeal to most Verna lovers. It looks futuristic and the size is also at par with its competitors. So far, it seems ready to recreate the magic of the 2011 Fluidic Verna to compete with the Honda City.

Great to see mid-size sedans finding their place in the SUV-dominant market thanks to their longer size. I do miss Civic and Elantra though which I guess will no longer be introduced in our market.

Definitely a head turner in all aspects. Strong contender for Indian Car of the Year award category. Those sharp cuts and creases make it look sportier appeal. If HMIL prices this sensibly and iron out significant flaws from previous generation, it will sell in decent numbers igniting fresh air in the sedan segment.

I think Hyundai might prove us wrong in terms of safety this time with the Verna. I hope they acheive atleast a 4 star rating with the new Verna. If it ticks all the boxes right, it might revive the Sedan segment back.

How reliable are Hyundai DCTs compared to DSG? Can we expect any improvements in that area with this new generation Verna?

Hyundai DCT's are quite reliable as compared to the DSG gearboxes. The DSG gearboxes have given some of my relatives quite a bit of trouble in the past but none of my relatives who went with DCT have ever complained. Yes there is room for improvements but improving something which is already good might be hard to do so but there is always room for improvement.

I love this design direction! It seems to be a more mature version of the current i20's design (which has an atrocious behind).

I hope Hyundai gives it 180 mm of ground clearance like the Volkswagen twins. Better yet, I hope it breathes new life into the sedan segment, and the Germans have to upgrade their interior quality to compete.

Looks like it is the same arrangement in the official sketches too.


I really hope that I am wrong and the leaked image may be of a lower spec car. If not, I don't understand Hyundai's hate story with LED indicators. I know that its absence is far from being a deal breaker, but it increases the appeal and perceived 'premiumness' of a car. AFAIK, the only Hyundai cars which come with LED indicators in India are the IONIQ 5 and the Tucson, with the latter having only front LED indicators.

I noticed one thing, that Verna always excites BHPians & there is lot of discussion about every new generation of Verna. Most of them people are not happy with the design

Frankly, I don't care either way as long as it's visible to other traffic . In fact, I would prefer halogen bulbs over candle light powered LEDs. I can already notice the lights on my Tiago( halogen projector) are better than the ones on my Creta ( trio beam LED).

I think you might be right.
Looking at the official image on their website, it seems like a halogen unit:


I was kind of hoping indicator to be integrated with DRL, given that it looks like a 3-unit piece - left, center, right.

In the above images, the side looks like a mix of cruze, accord and civic. However the front looks good and hyundai this time has many colour options on offer. Here are the colours for the new verna:

Went to a Hyundai showroom with an intent to book new Verna. Though I know that salesperson will not be able to give much info, I just wanted to know how many bookings are for 1.5 turbo and feedback of DCT in general from people who have bought it.

To my amusement, SA completely denied having heard of any issues with DCT. When I asked if he has ever googled it, he replied that information on Google, or internet, shouldn't be always believed.
On further probing, he stated that DCT gives problem only when driven for 700-800km non stop. No issues in bumper to bumper traffic.

Coming to booking amount, Hyundai website says cancellation are subjected to 3000/- deduction. SA again denied any knowledge of this and I showed him that information on his own laptop.

Anyway, booked 1.5 DCT SX(O) in abyss black pearl. Paid 25000/- booking amount with a condition of 100% refund if booking is cancelled.
